I have been lurking for a while now, and would like to say thanks to all who have posted in the forum.
Lots of great info.
I have figured out what I need, just haven't figured out what I will buy.

Found this one on the Craiglist, my curiosity is i believe it is a grey market toy, and the one dealer site I found recommends to stay away from this model, as parts may be slow in coming.

I value your opinions and would appreciate a little feedback in part availability and is it really a good deal.

Just be sure to check it all out first. Lots of scammers on Craigslist and especially what looks like a too good to be true compact tractor.

I'd take a friend when you went to look at it after reading of some people being lured to places to meet and being robbed.

Hope it works out but just be careful.

Welcome to TBN.
What year model is that Yanmar? Is it a grey market import?
When my wife and I got a farm a couple of years back I looked at grey market Yanmars locally that were imported from Japan and refurbished. They were less expensive than new tractors for sure and looked good. When I did a search on the model it turns out they were all produced in the mid to late 80's.
With that age even something that has been maintained perfectly will likely have more issues than a new unit.
That and the fact that another $5000 would get a new Kioti with a 4 year warranty, with more HP, features etc. meant the Yanmar's were out of the running for me.

Wish I could help; might try the JD section as they seem to know a lot about them.

There is a Yanmar specific forum too which would be a good place to start.
Price isn't bad (so I doubt it's a scam), but unless you're an excellent mechanic and can wait for parts, I'd strongly suggest not buying a grey market machine.
However, you will get better info from the Yanmar owners in the Yanmar forum of TBN.

I have not priced yanmars and don't know much aboutthem other than they make some of the smaller tractors for JD.

But that price sounds high to me. almost 11k for a small tractor with over 1500hrs on it??? You can pick up a JD 790 (which is made by yanmar) that is only a few years old, 4x4, loader, and under 200 hrs for the 11k ballpark. Used implements are a dime a dozen. At least around here anyway. Even if you had to buy all of them new @ TSC it would only cost ~2k. For 13k I'd rather take a used 790 with 200hrs anyday over that yanmar.

A good place to start to decide what you want and pricing is www.tractorhouse.com

A good place to start to decide what you want and pricing is Used Tractors at TractorHouse.com: John Deere Tractors, used farm tractors and farm equipment, Case IH, New Holland, Agco, Caterpillar.

Yeah, 790 would definitely be the better buy. $11K (depending on location) is about right for a 2001-2004 model with 200 or more hours. Less then 200 hours or newer, you're going to add 2 or 3 thousand. Since fireman022 is in Canada and the tractor is also in Canada, that price is in Canadian dollars. The prices LD1 and I are writing about is in US dollars, so think about the currency conversions.
Nice thing, once a 790 depreciates to 10 grand, that's about it (refering to a MFWD model, the 2WD tractors drop to 6-8 grand). That Yanmar will continue to depreciate... BTW, looking at fireman022's attached picture again, I see the ROPS is forward of the operator station...that really makes me think it's a grey market tractor.
And, 790 parts are readily available...although you probably won't need any except consumables.

However, TBN's Yanmar section will provide better info...
