Hey all!

I have been reading here for about a year now and bought my 2002 BX2200 based on info I read here, so thanks to all for that. I love it!

I am now in the market for a FEL and have been pricing and comparing the Kubota LA211 and the Woods LS72. Both seem to be close in price with the Woods being on the lesser cost side.

I can't seem to find much info online on the Kubota but with what I see on the Woods, it seems like it may have a slight advantage. On the Woods, I like the curved boom, the rounded bucket and I think the valve stays on the tractor whereas the valve splits on the Kubota, if I understand it right.

My questions are for anyone who have or have had either of these FEL's. What are some likes and dislikes, goods and bads, overall quality etc. etc. etc.

Thanks!

I've used Woods and Kubota loaders for many, many hours. I like both a lot. IIRC, their operating characteristics are similar. I think both of them uncurl really fast when you push the stick hard. That's a big time saver. Don't remember about the Kubota, but I recall that the Woods had a "stop" that the loader bucket hit against when fully uncurled. That helps prevent accidentally overloading the struts if you should bump the bucket against something. It is also handy for banging the bucket against to dislodge stuck dirt. Both buckets were made from good steel, and I was unable to bend either bucket gouging stumps. Good luck in your choice. I don't think you can go far wrong.

PG,

I had the LA211 installed on my 2005 BX2230 last week. I have about 5 hrs of time with it, and am just now able to use it without a stupid grin on my face.

I was also under the impression that the valve/joystick had to stay with the loader on the 211, but my dealer gave me the option of (and recommended) having it stay with the tractor. With my limited experience I can say that: it seems plenty stout for what it is, it's easy to control, I'm glad I got a toothbar, I use the "float" position quite often. Although I haven't done it alone yet, the removal procedure looks simple.

For comparison, I got the loader installed, toothbar, two hooks welded on top and tires filled for $3100.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Blue for the first hand info. I think I'm going with the Woods simply for design reasons. I like the fact that the bucket is rounded and can see it emptying easier. I think construction wise they are comparable and my dealer is a little cheaper on the Woods, $2950 installed. I thought about adding the grill guard but not sure how neccessary it is.

Todd, on the toothbar? How does yours attach?

Thanks guys... :)

My toothbar slips over the cutting edge of the bucket and bolts to both sides. I didn't get a grill guard and don't think I will... until, of course, I break something.

You're going to love it.

I think the first time you cave in the grill, you'll spend enough to have gotten the grill guard and wish you had, it's saved my butt lots of times pushing brush into piles. I think you'd be wise to get the silver colored one that has the BX emblem cut in the cross bar, it covers better and is a lot more sturdy than the orange one, and I think it looks a lot better.

Did the dealer weld the hooks on for you? Where did you put them?
