pretty much ran mine all out after 20 hrs or so..The manual gets a little confusing on this..Supposed to mow WOT...I don't have a tach, so held back a little at first..Wouldn't worry about it too much.

I was easy on mine the first 10 hours or so and would mow using various speeds. Then shut it off and let it cool down to abient temp. Then go at it again. After that I mowed at almost full throttle, so as to get'er done. The long time and trusted salesman said not to worry about it. I did the 50 hour maintenace according to the manual. It seems like it uses a little oil to me...that is I add oil rather frequently in my opinon. I asked the salesman about that and he said, "I'd rather have and engine that used a little oil than one that didn't". Hum-m-m-m Purchased in April of 2009, it has 72 hrs on it now. Works great at grading, mowing and the FEL really came in handy in the big snows that we've had this season, as well as moving a lot of dirt and big rocks ( some bigger than the bucket).

I have to say when I bought mine they said to mow at full throttle also. I've tried various speeds and I think it mows best a full throttle. People, me included, have this thought that a slower RPM is some how saving the engine. They are designed to be used at that RPM for mowing and it won't hurt a thing. When I broke mine in I tried to keep the RPM's down a little bit and change the speed some. I have about 230 hours on mine and so far so good.

thanks guys, yeah i have really enjoyed it so far, its a whole lot different than the big tractors, you have great visibility for working the loader. It plows absolutely plows the snow. My massey 255 wont touch this thing in the snow.

I have been varying the rpm, but i dont think it will have anywhere close to 50 hrs by mow season, so i guess it will see some of the higher rpms then.

so 2500-3000 is the sweet spot for mowing?

Dex, thanks for the welcome. I appreciate the help and info for barlows, i didnt my buy tractor there, but i had the dealer i went to price match, and actually beat them by a little bit to get my business.

I guess i will see Randy tomorrow, he is funny as ****.

I am glad to help. Who did you buy from? I would guess State Equipment in Beckley. Randy said to bring 12 ga. shells tomorrow:eek::D. I figured you were the fellow he was talking about and asked him to look at the truck. I have had great service out of my BX and it has about 150 hours.

no, state was the highest, and really didn't want to work with me. Barlows gave me the best initial price, then i haggled with him, told him if i drove down, what would the bottom dollar take to get it off the lot.

I then went to parcs on rt 50 near clarksburg, with that price, and he threw in the woods blade, and a front brush guard, so i was happy.

I appreciate the help, i am already starting to fabricate some little things for it. I will be adding a bunch of drings to the bucket, as well as a ammo can on the rops, and some led lights.

Good deal I bought a grapple from Barlows this summer they are great people to deal with. I have never dealt with Parcs I will have to pay them a visit. State equipment in Cross lanes kind of acted like they didnt have time to fool with such a small purchase. I will say their parts guys are great to deal with though. There are a lot of mods on TBN that you can do. Are you going to weld chain hooks onto the bucket?

i will lay 2"x2" 1/4" wall receiver tubing all the way across the top of bucket, which lays in there nice, and gives me a good ridge to weld to, then weld 3 of these on:

i might throw a receiver adapter in the middle of the tube and make an extension that goes out 2-3 foot to grab hard to reach parts. This thing will be picking up alot of motors, and axles, so i need alot of attachment points.

I am hoping by putting the receiver stock on the top of the bucket the whole length it will distribute the load and not bend the bucket when lifting something heavy.

That is wise to strengthen the top of the bucket when you add the chain rings I would keep them in line with the FEL lift arms. The thought is that going outside of the arms may stress and possibly twist the bucket or the arms if the wrong person uses the tractor pulling with it. I like the receiver Idea I have seen it on here and it seems like a great Idea.
