Read with appreciation the 14 pages of posts pertaining to 'snow struggles' with the recent storm. I agree that it was a rare one. Hearing the forecasts; I dropped the loader, mounted the plow and made ready. I've got a 1200' gravel lane cut into a wooded hillside which poses certain challenges, which ...thru the course of two outings came under control; Success! [ the jury is still out on whether the loader would have offered advantage over the plow]; but thats the forgettable part of the story.
As I was plowing downhill thru about 10 inches of untouched snow, with the plow raised a coupla inches, the blade struck, eviscerated and otherwise creamed a skunk [cadaver, I think??], which nature somehow delivered into my path. The evidence in the snow was almost as memorable as the rising fume!
[Imagination cannot do justice in this instance]
So........little 'Bota slept outside that night, after which I slathered the plow, subframe and other affected areas with kerosene, trading one of nature's worst smells, for one of man-made's worst.
Now I've gotta figure what to do with about a ton of eco-unfriendly snow????? .....is there an attachment for that?

:) !

The kerosene is just masking it...

The skunk smell will be back. Detergent helps..., as does time.

Thanks for the laugh!

Longshot,
Thank you. I am wiping the tears from laughing. Many times while I am reading the forum the wife may be playing some game on line and daughter is doing home work. At times there are posts I have to share with them. then there are those because of my reaction they ask about it. Yours was one of those. I busted out laughing and they had to know. They had various reactions from laughter to the 'uggghhhh'.

Thanks for the laughter, sorry it was at the expense of your olfactory nerves.

I have used a cleaner called odo-ban. This will get rid of skunk odor. We got it from Sam's club and it is the only thing I have found to get rid of the smell. Our dog seems to like to get into fights with skunks and we have even used it on him. As far as the eco-unfriendly snow disposal, I haven't a clue. Maybe you should just throw a match on it.

Go out and plow some more snow, both smells will wear off.
