That same thing happend to my GC2310 last winter. I made a jumper and never looked back. It is a common problem in cold weather.

Count me in that group too, only I didn't wait for cold weather to give me an excuse. I used a jumper wire to bypass the switch about a week after I got the tractor, because every time I shifted in the seat, the engine died.

By using the jumper wire, I can easily reactivate the switch if any of the TBN police show up at my door unannounced.

Well, this thread made me laugh. I took delivery of a new 1533 about 5 weeks ago. Weather was in the 30's when I tried a few things with the tractor to be certain that everything worked. When using it during the first snowstorm and colder weather I started having problems with the seat switch. I didn't have anything with me at the time and opened the little 'toolbox' behind the seat. In there I found a little pre-made jumper that fit the seat-switch plug perfectly.

The dealer I purchased the tractor from has been selling MF for many years. I guess they wanted me to be prepared for what must be a common occurrence.

I wanted to keep my kill switch intact as I have hilly terrain and teen aged girls operating the tractor. I went out to move some snow yesterday morning in just over 0 degrees F and encountered the same seat problem. I stood up, punched the seat a couple of times and was on my way. I'm 5' 7" and weigh in at about a buck sixty. No problem

I have a MF1205. My seat safety switch broke because of seat bouncing up and down while hauling it on a trailer. Dealer wants $121.00 for a replacement. I enstalled a jumper instead.

If your part number is 3707977M92, it is less than $40. I would have your dealer check it again if you decided you wanted it to work.

My Massey must have been bypassed before I bought it. I have a cub cadet ZTR mower that has the seat switch and it works off of resistance. You can't bypass it with a jumper because it's a direct short. You'd have to go to a radio shack or something to get a resistor to twist in with those wires. I've never measured the resistance, but It's an easy fix. I just wonder how long before everyone tries to use that method.
