Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Has anyone tried item 47077-5VGA?

Yes it works great!:D:D

I just installed a new forced air heating system in my home. I bought the Harbor freight sheet metal nibbler for around $20 on sale, and it did a great job of cutting all the holes in the sides of the main ductwork for the take offs. Some of them are square and some of them are round. The nibbler cuts just about as fast as you can push it, it is like cutting warm butter!! It is one of the best tools I have ever used for sheet metal.:cool:

Have you ever tried their mailorder division? Their shipping is real reasonable, probably less than your cost of gas. And they are good on returns, for the occasional item that is a dog.

HF's items are variable quality, some items you just laugh and take it back, but their customer service is better than average.

I have had excellent results with this electric jackhammer - Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

Between a 20% off coupon, it being on sale, and an impromptu discount for taking the display model, without the case it comes in, I got it for $297.

While I don't think it will have the longevity of the $1300-1400 Bosch version, we had been renting a Bosch hammer at $100 per day and everyone who has used both says the HF version hits just as hard as the Bosch, maybe even harder.

Two thumbs up from me...

We don't have Harbor Freight over here in Oz but we do have Bunnings. I recently bought an 'XU1' 3/8" reversible, variable speed, hammer drill for $20. I bought this to build a 6x7 metre garage and so far its installed about 1000 metal tech screws. I figured if it only lasted this one job then it was good value but its been amazing and is still going strong. Its not real powerful, about 600 watts, but this proved perfect as it didnt overscrew the screws as long as the speed was set right. (It doesnt have a clutch but I noticed few of the corded drills had clutches anyway - even the expensive ones.). It has a keyed chuck but this is minor irritation as I rarely removed the tech screw driver anyway.

Apart from the colour and the chuck size it looks exactly like this Chicago drill..

Order online and let UPS make the trip.:)

But, if you want a whole afternoon of good "manly" entertainment, make the trip to the store yourself and take your time shopping. I cannot ever get out of the store in an hour and most times it's more like two. They have so much in the store that everytime I go there, I see something new and fun. I have bought about a dozen sets (24 total) of the little LED flashlights they sell normally for around $4.99. I catch them on sale at two for $3.99 or sometimes two for $2.99. I also clip a coupon for a free one from many magazines so that each time I visit the store, I get a free flashlight. All my relatives got a set of flashlights in their Christmas stocking this last year.:D

I like those flashlights too but I only own about eight. The thing I like best, other than the price, is that they turn on and off with a little rubber covered button at the end that can be operated with your thumb while holding the light. They are much easier to use than the two handed twist on/off of the vaunted mini mag lights and being LEDs the battery lasts longer too. Great product.

Agree. The only thing better is getting them free. See coupon in link.

I bought it on a doorbuster Black Friday sale a few months ago. Unfortunately it's still in the box in my garage. I'm starting a remodel next month. After that I can probably give a review, but that probably won't help you.

As promised, here is my review...

I like it!

The laser that came with it is accurate. The base is flat and level. The saw seems to have plenty of power, and the sliding mechanism is smooth. My favorite part is that there are detent type stops as you rotate the base. I may curse this someday if I'm trying to make a cut that is some fraction of a degree off, but for now it makes setup very quick.

For my part time hobby uses, I'm glad I got this miter saw.
