Borrowed a friends old case crawler dozer/loader, was pushing a stump across the field and up on the burn pile, the bucket was tipped down and went over the top of the stump as I pushed it up.
rolling back,
It put a root through the brush guard and radiator.
I bought him a new recore radiator @ $300.00
He thanked me saying the old one leaked a bit.
I said you should of seen it with the root in it!! :rolleyes:

No one particular incidence comes to mind at the moment but I do recall several of them were preceded by the words "watch this" or "what do you mean it won't do it, watch this" etc. etc...

The first week I had my tractor I put a large, heavy duty D-Ring on the back to use to pull mya chain harrow. What I didn't realize or notice was that when the D-Ring swung to one side or the other it was in the way of the lift bar on that side. WIth dumb luck nothing happened for quite some time as I raised and lowered the belly mower with the D-Ring still on there, but finally one time the D-Ring was all the way to the right and when I lowered the the mower it caught and after a brief struggle over what part of my tractor would break.... the lift arm on the side bent badly. Live and learn!
I've been married for almost 29 years so when I do something stupid it does not really surprse me much.... and my wife is surprised not at all! :)

I've run over my 034 stihl twice with my L4400, both times I needed new fuel tank assembly, one time I was able to bend the handle back, the last time I got a new one on ebay. But...tis an ill wind that blows no good, I'm reall good at taking apart and putting back together my chainsaws

Hi, I to have had my share, one that comes to mind is driving my fathers john deere combine into the barn in the rain with the auger out. I don't remember the replacement cost only know it never worked right after that. I sure dreaded going in the house to tell my dad about that one.

I too have done numerous stupid things but recently instead of waiting for my tire chains I decided to push on and got my Bota stuck 3 times in a day with the last time being a good one slid 5 feet over into an old logging road trying to clear my neighbors driveway and had to call my friend who thankfully owns a tow service and pulled me out free of charge.

Today I was trying to dump some brush on top of a brush pile. I had the bucket raised high and was not thinking about how close I was. The tractor seamed to stop for a minute then I heard a crunch. I back up and saw that a 4" round tree that was sticking out of the pile went right in to the headlight of my new DX45. I have to replace the whole headlight assembly. I called the dealer to order a new one thinking I could just get the lens, to my dismay I had to order the whole assembly. It cost me $170 my wife was not to happy when she found out. I think it time to build a brush guard. I was wondering if any one else had any "DUH" moments they wanted to share:eek::p

I have a 1995 Escort with 224,000 miles on it. It has had starting issues lately that came on slowly. I assumed that the catalitic converter was plugged, it acted exactly the same as an old Pontiac I had worked on that someone had backed into a snow bank and plugged the exhaust with snow. I jacked it up and saw a fat spot in the exhaust pipe that I assumed was the offending part. I wore out two metal cutting sawsall blades while sweating profusely cutting the thing out with a sawsall. When it hit the ground I realized that it wasn't the catalitic converter at all. It was just the resonator in a perfectly good 15 year old stainless steel exhaust pipe.

I not only broke it being stupid, but I worked my butt off to do it! It cost me $15 to buy a pipe and a couple of clamps to replace it. The replacement parts are carbon steel and will probably only last 3 or 4 years.:eek::eek:

As it turns out the coil pack and spark plug wires had gone bad, causing the problem. $80 worth of parts and a little wrenching and it is back to running like new.:D:D:D

DUHH :eek::eek::eek:

I broke my tooth by sticking a screw driver in my mouth instead of a toothpick. It was one of those fine eyeglass screw drivers and I jerked it and it split my tooth right down the middle - I just had it pulled out.

I didn't have the guts to tell the dentist as he was stumped how the tooth split.
