sunk ocean liner move question

Just read today in the paper that the government wants to spend 2 billion on preserving and cleaning up the great lakes.

They said that the great lakes hold 20% of the worlds fresh water!

30 million people are drinking it now.

That's an amazing figure, which I wouldn't of imagined, 1/5 of the world's fresh water!

JB.

Maybe in the future we will be able to trade the Arabs 1 gallon of water for 2 gallons of gas. ;)

I lived on the shores of the great lakes when the Edmund Fitzgerald went down. I remember that storm, watching waves so huge you could see them against the horizon. My kids are tired of that story. So now if they catch me staring at the lake during a late fall storm, they don't ask. When I pick my guitar, they run away but it's too late, I know the song got stuck in their heads as soon as they saw me staring at the lake.

Lots of folks to not know just how big the great lakes really are.

How many lakes do you know of that you can not see the other side of, let alone the other end?

How many lakes do you know of that you can surf on?
YouTube - Spring surfing in Minnesota

There are over TEN THOUSAND miles of coastline on the great lakes.

I remember.. or.. 25 or 30 ys ago maybee watching a movie about a sunk ocean liner that had people still living on it after it sunk... IE. the had an air pocket, and some crew and passangers survived.. etc.. and started farming seaweed .. etc... Years later on people found them using a diving sphere and someone tapped out on the hull, from the inside, 'danger air toxic '.. anyway.. when the divers boarded the ship, one was shot by one of the 'crew' of the ship.

I can't for the life of me remember the name of this movie.. anybody else?

thanks
