I have just purchased old massey ferguson 165 I think it is about 1967 need to register it for road use after rebuild, the authorities need chassis number & engine number the chassis number I think is on a small plate under steering column 517463 but all I can see on engine is perkins AD4 203 can anyone help with the where abouts of the numbers stamped on the engine as it is all covered in black dried oil

Gerbil, you should be able to get answers to your question, if the right people look at this thread... You should make the title a little more informative... "engine number needed for MF 165" Lots of threads and not enough time to read all of them so some just skim the titles... You can edit your post for 24 hours, and *I think* you should be able to change the title...

And BTW, Welcome to TBN!!! Sorry I can not help you with your post...

Hi Gerbil, i believe the AD4.203 engine ser.# is on the left side, below and to the rear of the exhaust manifold. Your 517463 ser.# off the dash makes it a 1966 model.

You can edit your post for 24 hours, and *I think* you should be able to change the title...

Nope, the title is something not even the moderators can edit or change. The only way to change a title is to delete the entire post or thread and start over.

Yea, I saw that there was a spot for title changes but didn't know if it worked. I changed the title of *MY* post above but that's it.
