We all know of the demise of farmtrac, but would you buy one if the price was right? I'm currently looking for a 30hp tractor more or less and have a dealer of nearly every color close by. Favoring Mahindra and Kubota, but there is a dealer that has several 08 farmtrac 3030dt w/loaders that he is trying to move. We are talking in the $9k range for a new tractor with a great skid steer compatible loader, but no warranty. My research tells me its an LS made tractor, the same as the LS s3030 which is currently $12995 with the same loader. So....what would you do?

If you want to keep the tractor and use it for a min. of 5 to 7 years, This is an excellent buy .Parts will never be a problem for the tractor.
As time goes by, Resale may be an issue.
Negotiate for a dealer warranty of 3 months .to ensure engine etc is perfect.

Why do you write that, Fred? Since Farmtrac is no more, who's handling parts and other maintenance?

Even at that price I'm still leary of it. I feel confident I could get parts for it, but should I ever want/need to sell it I would probably have to give it away.

So....went and checked out the JD 3005 and 3024 today. Wow, no idea there was so much plastic used on them. Got a quote on both and have come to the conclusion that if it's green and yellow you pay more but get less. I'm sure they are great tractors, but I'd have a hard time paying that much, for what is essentially a foreign tractor, just because it says JD on the side. Now if the Kioti was green and said JD on the side, it would be in my garage already. I've looked at all of them, and the ck27 is hands down the winner in the 12k range in both build quality and features. If I buy one, maybe they will throw in some ear plugs so I don't have to listen to all the crap from friends/neighbors/family...lol. Most of 'em will probably think it's a kubota anyway. Decisions, decisions.
