Are you not concerned about parts availability? I've dealt grey Yanmars for 15 years and I certainly don't know where to consistently find Shibaura parts....which is why we won't/don't sell Shibs and other brands. Nothing wrong with the tractor model, but when something does go wrong, odds are not good for finding parts. Your money, your choice.

Thank you LMTC. I've got a lot to learn. The gray market dealer says they will fix it when it breaks. I think I just need to spend the money and buy a New Holland TC40 and get on with it. Thanks again!

You should be able to find a very nice low hour TC40, 4wd and loader for around $12k or maybe less. If you want the TC40D (HST), expect to pay a bit more. That's not bad when you consider you'll have a bigger tractor than the D28F and also an entire dealer network for parts and service.

And it's still a Shibaura ;), but with a network.

Lots of dealers say lots of things..ask him for 6 references you can contact, several a year or more old (everyone is happy at first). We offer such references to every potential customer. I get calls frequently from people who have a tractor with a major problem and a seller who won't/can't deal with it. NEVER...and I mean NEVER has one of those people answered "yes" when I asked if they got AND checked references. Most of them could probably have avoided their situation with a touch of common sense....but the attraction of a low price (gosh, why can they sell for so much less than us? Maybe because what they have is WORTH less than what we have.) and quick slick talk was more attractive than reality. Pass this guy by. Grey Shib parts are tough to find.

OTOH, we have an aftermarket catalog of parts for grey Yanmars that pushes 200 pages. The models we sell we can (and do) support.

Of course he is concerned. why else would he be asking questions???

Turns out the 37hp is not enough for what I need. I've found a NH TC48 buying this week. Thanks again for the kind guidance. I am grateful that you all were willing to address this concern. Thanks again.

Good choice! That TC48 will not only give you more hp, but it also has about 2.5 more gpm of hydraulic flow. Yesterday, I was driving to town and saw somebody with a post driver mounted to the FEL of a TC48. That post driver wants 10 gpm flow and anything less than the 12 gpm flow of the TC48 would not be enough.
