Snow Plow on a Gator?

I have a XUV GAS gator. I am thinking of putting a plow on it for the snow. I was wondering how they push the snow. My driveway is about 700 ft. Would that be to much? Thanks

I don't have a gator but do have a rhino with a plow. It works real good for light snow fall{probably around the 4" or under mark}. Snow plowing can be an odd thing though 12" of fluffy stuff will push easier then 4" of wet stuff. If you have enough area where you can push snow out of the way then get another bite it will work better. For the smaller amounts of snow I'd rather use the rhino over the tractor, much faster.

I can do that distance with my RTV500. Moved 2.5' of snow a few weeks ago with it..Does a pretty nice job...i believe the Gator has more horsepower, which is even better.

I have an 08 620 XUV with a 6Ft plow and it works great. I normally just fill the box up with firewood and go. I have never had chains, nor needed them yet. I have a 300foot driveway that I plow without any issues. It is an aftermarket plow that I use. I was a little dissapointed with the light gauge metal that was used, but it has held up pretty well, but I try to be gentle with it. If you can afford the John Deere plows, go with one of them as they are much beefier. Otherwise just be careful with the aftermarket ones as they are pretty lightweight. The Gator with the plow and a load of wood gets pretty heavy. It is easy to bend it if you hit something that doesn't move.

I was told by a Kubota dealer that the Gator belt drive can be damaged by putting the machine under a load like snow plowing or pulling a harrow drag. I have a 2009 Gator UTV gas kawasaki which I bought to drag a mini harrow. jack

Gators with snow plows work great.If you keep snow from accumulating to deep.
John Deere has 3 different plows available.72'' standard,72'' V and 72'' heavy duty.

Gators and most other UTV's but especially Gators plow snow very well. Jack, the Kubota dealer with whom you spoke is misinformed. I have plowed hundreds (literally) of miles of drives and service road with my Gator XUV in snow of various depths and almost always on a steep hill (both up and down) with zero issues. These machines are made to work, and the belt only turns the sheave on the CVT, so they are not under that much stress. My 850d has almost 400 hours on it, and about 200 of that is plow work, so if I have not had a problem, I doubt anyone else will. Also bear in mind that unless it is wet, snow is not all that heavy and with angled blades these machines probably are under less drivetrain stress plowing than pulling a trailer with firewood up a steep hill, for example.

I have been a strong proponent of plowing with UTV's. They are fast, much faster than a tractor, and are easier to manuver than a truck and mounted plow. I do recommend to those that ask to plow in low range, but this is optional when the snow is light.
