Rotella Semi At WalMart - New To Me

Shopping at WalMart today and noticed they now stock, at that store, Rotella Semi Synthetic 10w-30. Interesting. The price was right as well. $10.95 a gallon. Perhaps in other locals this isn't news? First sighting here.

The only place I saw it at was Tractor Supply at $16 a gallon. If I see it for the price you can get it for that will be the oil for all my lawn, generators and pressure washer motors.

I like the fact that it is 10w-30. I like that it is semi-synthetic diesel oil. I like the price as well. Smarter people than I will have to explain whether 10w-30 is better or worse, somehow, than Shell's Rotella's full synthetic 5w-40 for my 'Bota. Anyhow, it peaked my interest. Silver colored jug too, which was new.

I noticed it at TSC a couple days ago too. It's called T-5, and they carry 10w-40 for $15.95. That's about half the price of the T-6 full synthetic. I'll probably switch from the standard Rotella 15w-40 to this new T-5 synthetic blend for several of my engines.

I saw the Rotella semi-synth yesterday at Tractor Supply but they only had 10W-40, no 10W-30.

It means it is a blend of regular, and synthetic oil. Usually around 10% synthetic, 90% regular. Not really great deal. More of a marketing ploy to reap greater profits. Better to just buy fully synthetic. Your choice.

Disagree somewhat. If you go to Rotella's website, they have all those nifty specs on their oils.

Fact is, that T5 Semi Synthetic specs out very, very good and better than dino Rotella. The Semi-Synthetic hits a sweet spot between the regular and the full synthetic T6 in both performance and price.

It also if offered in 10w-30 and 10w-40 where the T6 is not. So, it's more than a marketing "ploy". It is a marketing choice.
