pallet fork, memphis, $169 new dealer

When I was looking, The best bang for the buck was sold through the Local john deere dealer & made for the quick attach FEL, they were made by Horst welding (HLA) they were almost 1/2 the cost of the Frontier forks at the time. I purchased them through the JD dealer they were already JD green & set up for my QA laoder (they'll match all manufacturers colors & quick attach set-ups). I have used them for 3 years now & love them. I was thinking about a set of clamp on's until I borrowed a set from a friend to see how they worked; in my opinion they put the load too far in front of tractor to be efficient. The forks clamp on the bucket which moves your load out the distance of the bucket & most CUT FEL's don't have a great deal of capacity as far out in front of the bucket as the forks place the load. You already have the weight of the bucket, then you add the weight of the forks add to that the distance from your pivot point & your capacity is shot before you pick a load. I would save the extra dollars & spring for the regular fork & carriage set-up, it will put the load closer to the pivot, they weigh less than most buckets and you can see everything you are working with as you have openings in the carriage as opposed to trying to see through or around your bucket. BTW I think my forks at the time were in the $450 dollar range. If you give HLA a call, they will set you up with a dealer in your area.

I bought a set of the 169 dollar memphis forks. They are well made for the cost. Very fast shipping also. You need the chains to hold the forks on the bucket when dumping.

I have trouble seeing around or over the bucket while using them. My tractor has the Q/A setup on it, I feel I would have been happier spending the money and getting the Q/A forks instead of the clamp on forks. But for the price they work out ok if you have someone guiding you into what ever you are trying to pick up. You would have alot of trouble trying to pick a pallet of the ground with my tractor cause you just can't see what you are doing.

I may buy the Q/A forks even though I have the clamp on's. The same place sells them at a fair price but the shipping is like 150 dollars that's a good bit. Might have to take a trip to Memphis to pick me up a set.

I have used my Memphis forks around the house and like them. they work really well for the money. You need the chains and binders that go around the back of the bucket to help hold them on. I have dumped mine off the bucket without the chains. It is hard to see around, over, under the bucket to see what you are stabbing with the forks. Don't forget that they stick out in front a good ways. Just cause you can't see them does not mean they are not there.

I would recommend them to other folks.

My lift capacity is 1035lbs at the pin, and 770lbs. at the bucket edge I don't need a potential 2 ton capacity. I'm primarily looking for something to help move small brush piles around

Now the same seller has a cheaper, probably less well built model for $149 AND it includes 2 ratchet binders and some chain! The binders must go for at least $20.

I'm glad I put off buying them so far.

And thanks mattman and lyurkin, for an actual report rather than just rating them without seeing or using them.

I think there are a lot of us that can get by with the $170 solution instead of the $500 answer.

Yeah, I'd like to have a set of them too. Seems like they would come in handy. My uses would include moving brush/tree parts and moving the occasional pallet.

Yup, I ordered a pair of these begining of Feb. For an extra $20 bucks or so I got the binders as well. I can recommend them, especially for the price. I like the way the clamps attach to the bucket and how the chain distributes the load across the entire bucket body as opposed to just the lip.

Good to hear. I'd really like to have a pair, but don't think I'd use them too often. Only problem I can see is that the bucket may block the view more ?
