Security & Theft How to deter theft - how about this idea

I have the same problem, farm over 2.5 hours away, middle of nowhere, crack heads everwhere down there. The house has been broken into once already as well. I count on my deer cams to watch the house but I trailer my tractor back home every time.

I wish we could get some legislation going that a thief has no right to sue or have any retribution to the person he is harming.

After all, if you will read your life insurance guidelines, if you are killed in the comission of a felony, your insurance is void. How nice of our government to protect the insurance companys. I think it is time we get some legislation to protect the decent public from the onslaught of criminals. The cops have proven that they can't help us until after the fact and that is too late.

In some cases, there IS legislation to that effect. In many states that have castle doctrine, for instance florida, AFAIK, you are immune from civil prosecution if lawfully defending yourself.

They just need to expand that a bit... I'm fine with bona-fide criminals having no legal right to civil procedings if they get hurt while harming me in any way, including financially. I'd support that bill in a hot second. Anyone not supporting legislation like that IMHO.. is pro-criminal...

I used to work in the admin office of a Intermodal Motor Carrier w/ a sister company that repaired damaged containers, including buying up some for 'salvage' value and repairing them in slack times for storage resale.

We had a 20 footer w/ double walls [some do, some don't] equipped w/ shelves for record storage sitting in the parking lot at the head office. When it had to be moved to a different location on the property they used the same small rolloff wrecker that they used to deliver empty 20s. The guy came w/ a small light COE unit designed for loading cars in urban situations. 20 min of fussing, often w/ the steering wheels off the ground and the fulled container was on the back and moving.

Make sure the container is secured to the ground....

Taking out youngest DD college touring we visited Elmyra College in Elmyra, NY. All their equipment from the handle on the plumber's helper, the school fire engine and their JD side by side UTVs were painted Barney eggplant purple...They did leave the JD wheels yellow...wonder what theirr dealer did at trade in time?
