Dual Exhaust

   / Dual Exhaust #12
Headers of Tri Y design , 1 5/8" primaries , into twin 2" pipes with an equaliser tube between them and then into Turbo mufflers will gain you 20hp . It's a lot of money and work to gain 20hp if your not interested in the exhaust note . I like my rides quiet and drone free , but that was not always the case .

What is OBD-II? I'm behind the times.:D
On Board Daignostics 2...Started in 1996, I believe. All manufacturers had to use similar plugs and similar computer diagnostics..OBD1 was manufacurer specific.

In PA they run the emission tes off of the OBDII hook up, not the tailpipe.

OBDII also looks for a ton more faults than OBDI. O2 senscors and stuff can't be bypassed like they used to be.

The last few gas v8's I have had, had a 2 into 1, then a cat and single out the back.

Some years ago, I had a '79 Trans Am; it had 2 in to 1, then a cat, the went back to duals; kind defeats the purpose of dual mufflers.

Some older performance V8's had an "H" pipe. A small cross over pipe was installed mid way in the dual exhaust. Balanced the exhaust impulses a little, little better performance.

If you do not have a CAT, then dual exhaust would be nice. Nice sound, and lowers the back pressure for a little more power and a little more MPG. You have to be careful though; too open of a muffler does not create enough back pressure, resulting in a loss of bottom end power. It will sound good, but not make as much power.
