Ford 1620: Opinions Please

've had my 1620 for 5 years now. Bought it used to improve and maintain the ten acre wooded lot around my house. Replaced the turf tires and wheels with a set of ags and couldn't be happier with with it. The hydro makes using the loader a breeze and the small size is perfect for dodging between the trees, even with the loader attached. I can take the loader off and put it back on without help and it has plenty of lift for my 1/2 yard or so bucket. Likewise the PTO power is plenty for my 5' mower, post hole digger and DRpower chipper. It also handled a rented power hoe I used to regrade my gravel driveway. I've always been a John Deere fan, but this little beauty is great. I'll be moving soon and won't have a use for it so I have to sell it. I will be very sorry to see it go.

I have a Ford 1720 that I would like to replace the turfs with ags.Where did you get the wheels for the ags?From a dealer?I was quoted a price of about $ 1600.00 just for the wheels from my local New Holland dealer.That seemed a bit steep to me.

The 1720 was arguably one of the most popular Ford models sold in the last decade or so of Ford tractor production as it was used by several commercial, public and private owners. As such, you may have some luck in finding a set of wheels. Unfortuneately, you may have to do a little maintenance on them as folks often had the tires loaded with chloride!

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to thank Stuart for his great response. It's given me some good direction about "features" I want to add to my 1620. We just got the tractor and writeups like that are priceless.
