What's the smallest trailer that could safely be used for occasional towing a DK45SE? Would trailer brakes be mandated?

Personally, I wouldn't tow anything with an FEL without trailer brakes. Not familiar with your tractor model though.

Just pulling my previous RTV500 on a single axle heavy duty utility trailer was a little scary. That machine weighed around 1300#. The trailer goes around 1200#.

After looking up your machine, I have to say a dual axle car type trailer or equipment trailer with brakes would be a must.

The tractor and FEL weigh about 5600 pounds I believe. I am assuming a dual axle would be pretty much mandatory. Trying to figure if trailer brakes are required and if a 16 footer would be ok.
I pulleda 16 foot dual axle, no brakes, this last weekend picking up up the Teryx I just bought. That worked great but the Teryx only weighs 1300 pounds or so.

I think, by law, you are required to have brakes for that much weight. Check over in the trailering forum. Been discussed a lot.

I'd recommend at least an 18' tantem axle trailer with brakes on both axles. A 20 footer would be even better. Never know what else you might want to carry at the same time.

I second Gittyup's suggestion. If you ever trailer with both FEL and (say) a mower or blower on the 3PH, you're going to be pretty pinched at 16 or even 18 ft. Also, with a 3PH implement mounted you could easily be at or just over the weight limit for a 7500# trailer, so a 10k or 12k trailer would give you a comfort margin. Don't even consider towing without trailer brakes (on both axles); otherwise, when fully-loaded, the trailering would be like a roller-coaster ride...you just wouldn't be able to stop in any reasonable distance, and certainly not going downhill!
I have a DK45S with cab and this configuration is what I have decided is the right one for me...now I just have to be able to afford it (and a bigger truck to tow it with).

I use the "bobcat" trailer from a local equipment rental place. It's a 16 x 7 foot deck with dual axles. It has a surge brake on it. No idea whether that's on both axles or not. It holds my DK45 Cab with Loader and backhoe no problem. As long as the transport pin is in place on the BH which hangs off the back by about a foot or so. It's $50 for a one day rental. I figure that I can rent it 50 times before considering actually buying a trailer. They also throw some chain binders in with the rental, so I think it's a good deal.

I use a 20ft PJ tandem axle trailer with 7000lbs axles electric brakes on both axles to tow my Kioti DK40se with Fel and brush hog.coobie

I use a 20ft tandom axle trailer with 6500lb axles and brakes on one axle to pull my DK45 with FEL and various other implements. An 18footer would probably do but I am glad I have the 20 footer. Do wish I had paid the extra $100 or so for brakes on both axles, but have not had any problems with this set up.

I never got around to buying my trailer yet, but I was leaning toward 18-20ft 10K trailer with brakes on both axles. How does yours sit on the 20 footer? Would you be able to put a 6 or 7' RFM mower on the trailer?
