This welder is a joke but i bought it for welding 1/8 minus stuff rather than using my 225 Lincoln portable which i loaned to my now ex brother in law
and that was the last time i seen it :(

But you can do things like this if you have to ...it just takes time and skill
Bucket was 1/4 and the angle iron is 3X3X3/8-flux wire is .035, 6011 equivalent
A good root weld then grind back to solid metal and re weld
Then Stringer beads and cleaned with a stringer wire brush on a 4 1/2 in grinder

You will have to excuse my less than good welding out of practice
It's not pretty but it's solid

Why weld the angle iron on the bucket? Why not just weld the hooks to the bucket. I'm not a welder so its a question from an untaught.

Standard Kubota buckets are weak in that area. Good idea to add reinforcement as the hook will concentrate force in a small area and with out that reinforcement your bucket will bend.

Please take this as constructive criticism. Looks like you were running cold, not much penetration. They should look more like this. I did this with my Lincoln Weld Pak 100 wire feed with flux core cranked all the way up.

When ever welding hooks to a bucket IMO it should be reinforced. Even if it were overkill, better to be safe then sorry.

Wish i had the Lincoln weld pak 100 but i don't used them before nice machine

Not to cold did it in layered stringer beads and out of practice it's fully bonded ground it back to check then re welded it in places

And when this machine starts to over heat the wire feed get erratic then it shuts down

Thanks. Back when I was younger and could see, I was a certified structural steel welder (stick). I bought that little Lincoln for welding stuff around the house. I kinda push the limits for this type of welding and have found a good old Texas Weave works great after you run a hot root pass. So far nothing has broke off. I did have a big u-bolt break that I had welded to a 7 piece of railroad track that I use to drag my road. The weld held but the u-bolt broke just after the weld and almost ventilated my trucks rear window!

What is a Texas weave?

It is a method of welding where you weave back and forth across the root pass. It gives the appearance that you are using a larger welding rod then you actually have. Most welding inspectors don稚 like it; they want you to run stringers. It sure looks good if done right, much better then stringers, or at least 杜y stringers.
