This maybe a stupid question but i am trying to figure out what fittings are needed for this cylinder. It says SAE8 but i am looking at my gates hydraulic book and i show a SAE Male Oring,Male sae 45 degree flare swivel. I dont have the cylinders in front of me to look at. "8" should be 1/2 in, and 1/2 in male flare is too small from looking at the picture. 1/2 pipe looks like the right size but it doesnt say "npt".

Sorry for the newbie question .

Thanks Crank...

SAE 8 is a 3/4 -16 thread

Your fittings are most likely 1/2" NPT. 3/8 and 1/2 are very common fittings on hydraulics.

Agree w WVR....1/2" NPT.....you cant use oring fitting unless face on cylinder port is machined for it......which they usually not are.....

What? It clearly says it has SAE8 ports, not NPT ports.

Cranker, you need the SAE O-Ring fitting like THESE.

I would suggest that the cylinders be in hand before you get any fittings. Better safe than sorry.

Good call. I love JIC's and use them whenever I can. NPT's are outdated and need to be phased out-just like slotted screws.
