cab with backhoe

I have a question about Kubota tractors.

The L5740 with the cab, would it be possible for the tractor to have a backhoe attachment from Kubota? I'm not sure where I heard it, but I thought the L series of tractors only have a backhoe available if you do not choose the cab model. Does anybody know if this is true? Does the cab model of the tractor has heater and air conditioning built in or at least available?

Howdy... welcome to TBN.

I have a Grand L 5030HSTC... yep, Kubota builds a backhoe for that model but ONLY for use WITHOUT cab.

I believe, am not certain, that the issue is that the seat of the backhoe gets in the way of the cab/back window.

I do have a backhoe that I bought used... it does fit on rear 3PH of the tractor. HOWEVER the following items which I have added seem to make the backhoe work.

Hydraulic top link.... thus, can keep seat from ramming into the cab... but gotta watch it and make sure it is set properly... if too short, will jam seat into the rear window.

Pat's Easy Change System... this extends the lower linik arms somewhat, thus pushing the backhoe a bit away from the cab, assisting in achieving adequate cab clearance.

My net... a backhoe can be made to work, but perhaps you will need some extra equipment..... TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!!

In my case, I already had the hydraulic top link and Pats System...and just added another good reason to have these on the tractor.

Oh, yes.... my backhoe has independent hydraulic pump... driven by PTO... this avoids mixing hydraulic oil between tractor and backhoe. I like this.

My cab has both heat and A/C ...not for sure, but think that these come standard if you get the cab option.... without AC, would be intolerable in all that glass on a sunny/summer day.

Check out Wood's backhoes. I believe they make a model for the L series with a cab but don't know about the M series.

Your not worry about shredding either of these parts due to digging forces? I heard the hydraulic top link was a big no-no and you would be much better served with a HD solid top link.

I guess you haven't had any problems???

There are many TBN members here that have the Grand L cab and a woods backhoe. I have the L3240 cab and have a woods 1015 backhoe (previously had a 3430 cab 3pt set-up using the same 1015 hoe). I have used both 3pt and frame mount systems and I can say with out a doubt the frame mount is worth every penny. Also, I called woods to see about a heavy duty top link bracket for my 3240 and they don't even reccommend a 3pt set-up for the 40 series grand L tractors. Woods said the 30 series was ok to go 3pt as long as you had a woods heavy duty top link bracket but for sure not the 40 series. So all that being said I bought the woods frame mount kit and have never been happier.

I know this is an old thread but I thought future readers would be glad to know that the new -3 Grand Cabs (e.g. L5740-3) are able to take a Kubota brand backhoe. I have one on mine. It seems that all they did was to fabricate an extension that goes on a sub frame so the backhoe can sit back further and clear the rear part of the cab. The dealer told me that this was only just now an option on the new -3 cabs.

So far, no problems with the hydraulic top link using the back hoe. This link allows me to carefully adjust back hoe angle, lifting the bucket further off the ground while keeping seat away from rear window of cab... doubtless, a frame mounted back hoe would be an improvement, but for me a 3ph back hoe is better than none at all. I try to use all my equipment carefully and avoid stressing components too much (while still getting the job done). I've found that it is important to firmly plant the stabilizer feet... putting all the weight of the back hoe on them and even some of the tractor weight as well.

Just an update on my current experience.

My understanding is if you have the type 3 tractor, the new backhoe will fit.
But the new backhoe isn't too widely available yet. I think they are looking at around May for the public, but could be wrong. For example, new BH92 will fit the type 3 variant. Be sure to confirm with a KNOWLEDGEABLE dealer before buying.

My personal experience with this is it only took about a week for my backhoe to come in.
Now one thing that is is taking a while due to the newness of this tractor is the third function valve for the loader. This keeps moving from two months to two weeks. It has been a month and I still don't have it. I am using some temp lines running from the rear remote outlet to allow me to use my 4n1 bucket.
Apparently the third function valve must be re-designed.
