What country would you live in if you could?

We have been lucky enough to do a lot of international traveling and I have to say that the best part of travel is coming back to the United States. There are many great countries with even a larger number of fantastic people, but I haven't found any place that provides the freedoms we have enjoyed for more than 200 years right here. I'll venture into dangerous territory and simply say that I hope that doesn't change in the near future.

If I had to leave this country there would be quite a few places that might might make me happy. For scenery you can't beat Norway or New Zealand. Have been to both of them and the people are even greater than the scenery. In an earlier post, someone mentioned that if you travel to Australia and New Zealand you should go to Australia first - I agree, but found the Australians to be great people as well. There is a lot more available land (if you like desert in Australia)

Tahiti is quite a paradise but I don't think I would like the constant perfect weather - yes I really do love the change of seasons and that includes winter.

Germany is almost a second home to me and we could be very happy there.

Someone mentioned moving to Cuba where they have great health care and strong leadership. Aren't we overlooking Venezuela where they have vast oil reserves, great health care, a lot of land and a strong leader?
Venezuela????? Ain't that the country that literally hates and despises the our USA?! Same for Cuba, another country that hates us. So, why would you want to live there, or pick it as an "ideal place" to live. I'm really curious on this one!

Consider this as well... Swiss-German, French, Italian and a Romanian language...? There's four main languages over there... take your pick :)

There is no Swiss language connection to Romania. ;)
Romansh which has Latin roots, is spoken by 1% of Swiss.

Wait, wouldn't you turn it off? Is this one of those yes means no and no means yes. I'm bad with those kinds of things. Let me think. If you have it on you filter out sarcasm so its not going to be at your disposal since it got trapped in the filter or is it you turn it off and sarcasm is not available for you to understand. :confused2:

Sweden-Art- Wow, thanks for the you-tube; very nice. Brought back lots of memories... Fem Små Hus i Gamla Stan (is it still there?), fishing for gadda in the archipelago, long trips in a canal boat with an old Mercedes diesel, Santa Lucia candles in my old sweetie's hair, water-skiing on Siljan; really miss it and have threatened to return for 30 years but haven't yet. Still use Vademecum- somewhat hard to find here.... Thanks for the trip down memory lane; nice video!

We have to spend money in order to save it.
