Hi All,
I having been talking to people a lot of people about R4's....... And the main thing is how gentle they are on grass. I believe that they are gentle enough for finish mowing and do not rip up grass. Almost all the people that i talked to said they rip up grass. Is that true or are they think of R1's????

In my experience they were very easy on the grass. R4's not filled on a 790, so its kinda light. But it would get slippery on hills when there was any moisture. I'm talking a bout going sideways on a hill.

I haven't had a problem with R4s on grass...but knowing my 24 is heavier than a riding mower, I tend to stay off the lawn when it's wet and don't use 4WD when mowing...well, there are a couple places where I need it, but I take it out of 4WD asap and avoid turns.

I think if you've got firm dry soil, it should be ok once in a while. Turfs are your best bet for regular use. R1's are hel* on turf, even dry ground. The same weight is distributed over a larger contact area with R4's, and more so with turf tires. They will stress the grass over time imo

I mow my 3 acres with my 3940 and loaded R4 tires. I leave the loader mounted but usually take off the bucket for cooling and visibility. The only issue I have is making turns on the hill. Otherwise I don't have any issues.

Hmm. I wonder about filled R-4's. Would that make big a difference ? - more weight...

R4s arent to bad on my Dad's lawn. We use it in 4x4 Low on the lawn though because the hill is so steep. We dont get much damage at all unless we go out when its wet out. Otherwise, it is compleatly fine.

Been driving my loaded R4's around here on the very wet grass. So far I have not noticed and major damage. I was out looking around today and it appears that they marks that I did make are starting to go away in less than 2 days time.

I just use R1s an forget it.
Not a problem on the smaller tractors.

I mowed for years with loaded R4s. No problem at all as long as I stayed off wet areas and out of 4wd.
