Where can I get the best deal on a gooseneck

What I would do is weigh your truck then go back the with the trailer and weigh it. By doing the math you will have the true answer.

I'm guessing Gator Made is using the same frame and just putting different axles under it. I have a 14K 20 +5 that weighs 4000. So that gives me 10K payload. I wonder if you might be able to find another manufacturer that that has a better weight to payload ratio.

Different frame but same axles. Both of the Gator made 20+5 single wheel trailers have 7000lb axles under them. The 16,000 lb that I have uses 2,000lb of pin weight to get the 16k. The 16,000lb trailer uses the same frame as the 22,000 dual tandem trailer (20+5). My registration also says the trailer weight is 5380.

I bought the "plain" Gatormade trl. 20+5, 2 flip over ramps with out the fancy front end. It also has 2 7,000# axles rated @ 14,000#. My title says the trailer weighs 5380# also. Guess I ought to weigh it sometime and see. I don't feel that this trailer and the 16,000# trailer could weigh the same, that trailer has a heavier frame and more ramp material as well as all the extra on the front end.
Newblue have you ever weighed your trailer? Next time I'm up north at my friends I'll put mine on the scales.
I still feel that the Gatormade trailers are good product and craftmanship for the money. They just need to work on their customer service and stand-up to their saying "completely painted".

That seems light. Is that 4,000# the wight of the trailer or just the weight on the axles? Some trailer manufactures allow for some of the weight on the pin. Like on my old trailer I had. It was 20+5 GN with dual 12K tandem axles. The GVWR was 25,000# and the trailer was right at 6,000# leaving me 19,000# load carrying capacity. So they were allowing for 1,000# on the pin but I bet it had that empty and more like 3,500# loaded at times.

I just spoke to the factory rep at Gatormade last week. He was the one who told me the weight was 6000# plus depending on the extras. After looking at the trailer, it is easy to see why. Dual jacks, full size spring assisted ramps.

I need to take mine on the scale. That 5380 that is on the registration and the sticker on the trailer might be off, lowering my payload.
