with the unusual temps of March averaging 65 to near 70 degrees every day, and NO RAIN for the month, the 'Bota and I got covered in dust today.

Want to plant my potatoes tomorrow, on Good Friday, but there is just no moisture at all. We are under severe fire danger, with some fires breaking out. Hard to believe this is merely the end of March, first of April. Up here in the Big Woods, fire is a constant threat.

I am sorry for the folks getting flooded out east. Things are just not in balance it seems.

Yep, definitely out of balance. We had too much rain this Winter, but at least haven't had the flooding and problems those poor folks in the northeast are experiencing. I figure I got about 4.22" of rain in March; over 10" for the year. The ground is still quite damp, but at least not too soft to mow, so I mowed and fertilized the yard this morning with a 70% chance of rain in the forecast for tomorrow. Of course now they've lowered that to a 60% chance.:D

50 # of potatoes planted this morning. Red skins. Now we pray for rain. "Might" get some Saturday night, and "might" get another shot on Tuesday. Near 80 yesterday and 78 today. Too hot, too soon.

Wonderful!!!! First rain in 40 days. Perfect.

Lettuce planted, onions in, potatoes in. Now rain, glorious rain.

That sounds really good, BP. I wish I still had a vegetable garden. We got .3" of rain which was plenty for my fertilizer on the yard since the ground was still a bit damp.

And now we're expecting a nice sunny Easter day with our kids and grandkids coming to dinner after church.:)

I was hoping for 1/2" from the same front that gave Bird 3/10", but I wasn't that lucky. I only got about .08". It was better than nothing, but the wind soon dried it out. My garden is moist and I finished planting melons, squash, cucumbers, okra, and zucchini this last week. Except for some asparagus crowns I need to build beds for, my garden is planted. Sweet peas are 2" tall and bush beans are sprouting well. Today, my wife and I set out 8 flats of bedding plants and three rose bushes. Our iris we planted last year will be blooming within a week. We are far from dry, but a nice shower would be welcome.

BP, glad you finally got your rain. I'm sure it will kickstart your garden.
