New L5740 Delivered

Mom and dad had their new L5740 delivered yesterday.....Very Nice machine! I only had 20 minutes or so to play with it, but it sure is nice. Mom and dad are gonna love that cab!! I had the AC on and stereo playing.....its as quiet and comfy as a car in there.

L5740 w/Cab AC, Heat, CD Player, front and rear lights, windsheild washer, rear wiper, defroster, LA854 Loader, with quick attach bucket, pallet forks, Bison 8' rear blade with Hydraulic angle.

The IH 1086 in the background is what I played in all afternoon...got a little disking in.

Very nice tractor. If I ever wear my L5030 out, I am going to get one of those; just the right size for me.

The people who rent our land use John Deere 8320's, but when all were being used the other day, they pulled out their old IH 1086 to fill in; good old tractor.

HST....I think its HST plus......I don't know much about it, I'm hoping to find time to read the manual soon....I was surprised when I got in and it had a clutch....what the heck is that for? LOL

I will have to check for sure....I think the package was right around $45,000.....they got around $13,500 for the IH 856 they traded plus an old rusty backblade. I'll see if I can find the exact prices on the tractor, loader, blade, extras.....I saw the invoice, but I didn't memorize it. They seemed happy with the deal....considering the trade in was much more than they paid for that tractor a few years ago.

How nice, great pictures. I liked the one of the older IH, I had one (considerably smaller a 454D). Where do you hail from?

SE Iowa...smack dab in the middle of JD country. but still alot of IH's and Case IH's around here. Dad has always been a red tractor man...he has had a couple John Deere's for short periods of time (if he got a good deal at a farm sale) but has had more IH's than I can count. Currently he has the 1086 and a 986 (with loader) and the new L5740. I think he is partial to these old 86 series from the late 70s. They are stout, powerful machines and seem to be very reliable. I think they had some German engineering influence and this tractor was possibly built 20 miles away in Rock Island, IL. I think the 1086 is around a 130 hp tractor roughly. Dad would sure like a newer, longer wheel base tractor.....as would I, I really got the snot beat out of me the last two nights while disking a field that was Chiseled plowed (at an angle) corn ground. wow, what a jarring ride....and not fun!
