Here is pic of a Disc Bedder that I am making and selling locally. I designed it to use with a Sears type garden tractor without a 3pt hitch. I am using it with an older Sears 18hp garden tractor. It really takes the work out of gardening! It will do in 30 minutes what will take all day with a hoe.
Disc Bed Maker for Garden Tractor

Just was curious if you are still selling this disc bedder or do you know where I can buy one. I have a case444 that doesn't have a 3 point hitch it has a sleeve hitch. Thanks

I got this one made up over the winter, waiting for the mud to dry out so I can get into the garden :)

How does something like that work? Do you hill then plant the seeds, or drop a line of seeds and put a hill on top of them?

Never having owned one before, I'm pretty sure you make the hills/rows then plant. If you put the seeds down first, (a) they'd be too deep, and (b) how would you ever know where they are and keep a straight row? The idea is to keep the seeds higher than the surrounding ground so rain water can run off and not drown the seeds, and provide a nice friable soil for them to grow in. :)

Hello there
I was just looking for info on disc harrows, hillers and other stuff trying to figure out the best way to make wide rows and I saw your entires.
I am a Maritimer, living in Florida and the Bahamas where we have 32 acres and are starting to farm vegetables and fruit trees.
I don't know Wallace but I am from Musquodoboit Harbour and left Canada when they brought in the GST.
Looks like a lovely home. Congrats on finishing up and I hope you enjoy many years of gardening and those fabulous sunsets.
Regards.

Around here, for small gardens, we hill up small 6-8 inch diameter mounds with garden hoe for watermelon, muskmelon, cucumber and squash and about everything else goes into a V row we lay off with a hand hoe or laying off plow on the tractor. Ken Sweet
