I am planning to change fuel filter next weekend before food plotting season begins. If the sediment bowl is refilled with fuel before reattaching, do I need to use bleeder hose to purge the small amount of air that will be At the top of the filter aparatus after reconnecting??

I have a TC40 and followed the advise of others when I changed my fuel filter out last month. Fill the filter bowl to the top, have it in position to screw back on and turn the fuel lever back on just before threading the bowl. It's a little messy so do it outdoors with ground protection under the tractor. I've got ten hours on since then without a hiccup.

I thought it is way easier and a way less messier to just to bleed the line. On My TC45A all I needed to do was remove the rubber line (pliers removed the small clamp)and wait 2-3 seconds for the fuel to come out air free and put the line back on.

Also by doing it your way if there is dirt in the fuel it will bypass the filter and could cause problems.

That's exactly the way I do all Class III fuel filters. Very little mess, and no opportunity for unfiltered fuel to enter the post-filter part of the system.

Is the bleed line you all are referring to just downstream from the bowl??

It is a small tube fitted over a nipple that extends straight up from the filter head. There's only one tube headed in that direction. Change the filter, remove the tube from the nipple, turn the valve on. When clear fuel with no bubbles comes out of the nipple, reattach the tube and start the tractor.
