Those things are real cheap..Unless they leave them behind of run over them .
Your area of Florida is just catching up with my neck of the woods.I'm not disputing the fact the dot man COULD do what he did.. it's just not what I normally see here.
must be a new revenue enforcement campaign.. er.. I mean safety campaign..

When you figure the smaller ones are built on truck chassis, they should be stuck with the same rules. Big ones can clearly exceed the 26K single unit rule for a Claas B CDL.LD = Light Duty, ie Pickups etc., yes the gardeners are a MAJOR safety problem. Lots of new "green" drivers pulling overloads with no brakes and inadequate securement. Ewwww.
I am ALL FOR DOTs for RVers! Heck, log books too! It was not the first time, but last week going west on I-10 out of Baton Rouge some idiot FL RVer with more money than brains was pulling his Hummer behind his huge three axle Class A (there's a joke there somewhere) with NO DAMNED LIGHTS OR SAFETY CHAINS! Fool was just getting after it in the hammer lane, sees a cop and dives into the RH lane just ahead of me as he grabben the brakes. Lots of slowing but no brake lights. Great.
Let's see: Speeding (greater than 10 over), failure to signal, no safety chains, inoperative lights on towed unit (x 7), reckless driving. Yea, they need to be at least looked at for overload and basic safety items.

*I had a 71 ford that had a screen in it that prevented sticking a hose into the tank to siphon .sure they are. I work for a company with many heavy vehicles..
what I'm wondering is why they have such selective enforcement. I like rules.. I just want them to apply evenly...
*I know when they show up to stick your tanks, they hit everything diesel with a tag on it in the shop yard... personal, comercial.. customers .. everybody...

Should all the same rules apply to RVers? Sure, most of us think so, but in spite of the occasional dummy you see on the roads, RVs are involved in relatively few accidents compared to others, so legislatures have not been pushed in that direction. I've no doubt the RV Manufacturers organizations and the RV owners clubs and groups have lobbied to keep them from being included in the CDL requirements, too.
They pull it at your filter or a tank bottom drain if your vehicle is so equipted. And at your next visit, you better have an easy way of pulling the sample.*I had a 71 ford that had a screen in it that prevented sticking a hose into the tank to siphon .
Wonder what Dot does in a case like that.![]()
