MF GC2410 TLB
Does anyone know where to get some wheel spacers for the GC's (specifically the GC2410 TLB)? I'd like to reduce some of the pucker factor when catching a bump with the rear tire. Would filling the tires add enough weight to help?

Filled tires will make an enormous difference in stability and traction. Rimguard (beet juice) is generally considered the best fluid to use. Nearly the same density as Calcium but non corrosive and non toxic.

Do they recommend loading the tires on the GCXXXXTLB? I know Kubota does not on their BX25, no reason given though. If so should you load the front also?

The MF dealer I use loads the rears of all the GC TLB's they sell unless the owner requests otherwise. I asked them about the fronts and they felt the small amount of fluid you can get into the fronts (just a few gallons), was not worth the trouble. With the pivoting front axle, the loaded fronts won't help with stability until the tractor has tipped to the point where the front axel can no longer articulate and then begins to lift a front wheel. It would help with traction, however much an extra 30-40 lbs at the front tires would help. I think I recall the owner's manual mentioning loading the tires for stability / FEL counter weight. I know there is no statement forbidding loading the tires.

Okay, thanks. I notice you have a thumb for your hoe, which one do you have and what are your experiences w/ it? Good buy or not?

The thumb is a Sundown brand. I believe the company is located in either NY or somewhere in New England. They don't have any web site. Here is a link I found of a place in NY that sells them.

The Thumb is very high quality and the model I have would be suitable for tractors quite a bit larger than mine. The dealer told me they install this model up tractors up to 60hp. It is very rugged. I have found the thumb to be very useful to pick up logs rocks and even clamp onto some brush and limbs. I have found it to be helpful when trying to get large rocks out of the ground. I think it reduces scratches on the boom and dipper stick. A hydro thumb would be the bee's knees, but I like the manual one very much.

Do they make a hydro one for the SCUT line? If so I may go that route.

I don't know. I would think the manual link could be replaced with a cylinder. This would add considerable cost. I think you would need to add a rear remote that would be able to function concurrently with back hoe operation. A rear remote (or two) could be very usefull, but they are not nearly as common on the SCUTs as they are on larger tractors. If I had to take a wild guess I'm thinking a remote, cylinder and plumbing could approach $800 or more. I would need to have the dealer do the install as I am new to hydraulics.

If you go that route I'd love to see pictures.

I may go the Bro-tek way. It seems well built, also and they have a ripper available. I like the way it stows too!

Just received my Bro-Tek thumb. Very good quality product. Have not yet used it, I am in the middle of a move right now. Looking forward to it though!
