I had a couple of my Marlins out of the safe today for a photo shoot, so while I was at it I figured that should take some pics of my Taurus Judge that I bought to use as a snake gun. Here it is, I bought the "Public Defender" version becuase it was the one that I could get quickly. Turns out that I like how much smaller it is too... so I lucked out.

i've been wanting to try one of those out, they look like they would be fun to shoot. one thing i don't understand is how they are legal. i thought that shot guns had to have an 18" barrel.

I'm of the understanding the Judge can shoot both .410 shot shells and .45 Colt ammo (which would require rifling).
I've read a number of opinion (on guns forums) that denigrate the Judge (and .410 shot shells in general), but I think it's a mighty effective revolver for close range.

You can buy shot shells for many handgun calibers...good snake rounds. I've got a box of .38 Spl shot shells. I keep two or three rounds in a little revolver (remainder are standard .38 ball) when I'm mowing.
