Looking at the Duty Cycle of that unit, You can only weld less than 1 minute out of every ten minutes or it will shut down due to temp. I would hold off and buy a used name brand at a pawn shop or somewhere.

I think it is the first one. They do have 2 that are almost exactly alike.

Yes it is the first one. The other one is a stick welder with good reviews in its price range but work working with the kids I thought a wire welder would be less stressful. Starting and holding arc was not easy for me when learning to use a stick welder. I think the automatic darkening helmets of today would help the seeing issue.

I have a nice 220 stick welder and a gas welding set up. However a small wire feed might do things you couldnt do with the Ark. Gata go breakfast is up. Tucker time.

I'm back! I looked up the specs. Yesterday on I think it was #98871 and the duty cycle was way up, further into the specs, on the first page the cycle was still 10%.

I think at 30+ pounds and with a 25' 12 gauge extension cord with no read set up time would make the 3/16" and under stuff a snap. We need to weld on a bracket for the trailer tail light that got broken off which is a place the little wire welder should shine.

You are covered for heavy welding and heat needs well already. I expect I will take it over to family members to do little stuff too.

Years ago, I won't say how many, when I was leadman, we had in our shop a small unit that you would grip in the stinger clamp, a tube to the unit would feed Argon gas, inside the procelain cone would be a tungton rod we would sharpen on the grinder. When we got the big water cooled machine and the old one was about to be thrown out I brought it home. I still have it archived.
I remember practicing with it until I was very good. I thought of getting a tank of Argon and regulator to set up again but never have.
Do you remember these?

Sunday a guy at a metal company is to bring us some new scrap metal to well on. I had Pat's Quick Hitch to get on and tested with our two pieces of equipment. The hitch install went fine as noted in a quick hitch thread but the non standard old bushhog to some time to convert to a true Cat 2 system but that is behind us.

Now we are down to testing the welder, putting the new cooling unit into the RV frig (old one is removed thankfully) and changing out filters and hydraulic fluid in the JD back hoe.

The guy at the metal company things I will be limited to 1/8" plate but i am holding out hoping it will do 1" just fine.

I will report when we fire her up. Many others have one already that may want to share. They have been selling this same welder for 10 years so it has to be a fine welder. Well this one does have a fan and the 250% increased duty cycle rating.
