I have some experience with aluminum horse trailers.
Horse pee is corrosive, although I understand the biggest corrosion risk to aluminum trailers is the Mag Chloride that is being used more and more in place of "road salt" (NaCl).
So it might matter where you live and how much of what they spray on the roads in winter time.

It will be in storage from Nov. to April so I am hoping to miss the salt issue, or at least most of it.

These trailers come with either a one piece gate or a bi-fold style. Is there a benefit to the bi-fold type?

Marine grade plywood deck or aluminum deck?

One piece or bi-fold gate? Are you looking a dump trailer?

I have a Worthington 5'x8' with alum sides and one piece ramp.
I love it 'cause I can move it around by myself, rolls really easy.
The floor is pressure treated plywood, strong yet replaceable.
I've put thousands of miles on it and hauled all kinds of stuff.
It's worth the extra money by far!

I have had the Worthington trailer you are talking about (WU-6412) since 1999. Mine is the HD model, 2990 GVW, 2" pressure treated flooring, 16" pressure treated sides, and a 5' 2000lb rated ramp. It has a been a great trailer. I replaced the tires last year- other than that, I have never even changed a light bulb. The trailer has hauled tractors, mowers, ATV's, garbage, building materials, etc.

I just ordered a 6418THD model (18', 7000GVW, tandem axle, stowable ramps) due to the new tractor I bought last year. I looked at many models, but came back to Worthington.

I stayed with the 2" lumber floor, I felt the aluminum would be too slippery, and I worried about denting it with some of the uses I may have for it. The benefit for the bi-fold ramp is that it carries lower for visibility, and it catches much less of the wind.

I hope you enjoy your trailer as much as I have enjoyed mine.

As Will C has stated, the bi-fold has two purposes. One being for overall appearance (all sides approximately the same height), and two for aerodynamic purposes. A 4 foot high vertical gate 18 feet or so behind the two vehicle adds a tremendous amount of turbulence, therefore drag, just outside the slipstream
