Ok new to post so thanks first for your time......bought a m59 and love it no real issues with it but today the backhoe would not return to the travel position everything works great but it hits the zone where the hydraulics slow way down so not to hammer it into position and it wont go in to the position any thoughts was going to place a call to the dealer being it has only 50hrs on it mostly wondering if this is an issue that i was not aware of and if there are any other issues I am not aware of. thanks scott

it was a problem with the boom cylinder internally going to be fixed or should I say replaced by kubota.

This sometimes happens to mine. I just increase the engine RPM a bit (try something like 2000rpm) and the hoe should then come up the extra 1mm to enable you to engage the catch. If not, then extend the hoe out a bit and bring it back in again.

Haven't had that sort of problem with mine...but then I'm not sure I understand exactly what's happening to yours. It sounds like something on the backhoe won't fold up? Why not?. Did Kubota need to fix something? What?
Thanks, rScotty

It was on the boom cylinder it happened to have an internal valve failure it worked fine but would not return to the lock position for transportation other than that swapped it for the updated design and now it works great 55 hours on it now and love it. Any problems with yours?

No problems with mine. I wonder if the internal valve failure has resulted in a tech bulletin or upgrade from Kubota. Anyone know?

kubota replaced mine to a "upgraded cylinder" works great now.

I wonder what's "upgraded" about the upgraded cylinder? Mine seems to work fine. It does moves very slowly and the engine does slow down while the boom moves the last quarter inch to where the latch will go down....but it moves smoothly and definitely if a bit slowly.

Kubota may have shortened up the stroke on the cyl or nut on the end of the hyd rod may have loosened up....

that slow travel on the end of stroke is a cushion built internally to decelerate instead of crashing.....

Looking at the workshop manual I can see it now. In fact, Kubota mentions the cushion design several times and goes into some explanation for how it works but without any detail as to clearances and such. From their section drawings it looks as though they have figured out how to make the configuration of the rod&piston part of the boom cylinder in such a way that it causes the flow of hydraulic oil to be restricted at the ends of the stroke. That would explain why the boom slows down so much just before latching.
The swing cylinders are made the same way, but not the dipper, bucket, or thumb cylinders. The thumb cylinder could benefit from the same technique. It tends to crash at the end of it's stroke and I don't see any advantage to its doing so.

Interestingly, the parts manual only covers the tractor itself. I'll have to check with Messick (from whom I get my manuals) and see if Kubota has printed the parts manuals for the backhoe and loader yet.
