B7300, have had it just a few weeks with about 20 hours (over 850 total on tractor). Today was the second time I cut 7 acres with the bush hog. All the other hours were with the box blade. I was about half way done today and after I had backed up to cut under a few trees the tractor suddenly was able to go faster. It was like I had put it in super high. As you know low is extrememly slow but use it mostly for the box blade. I cut all day in high gear and it has never felt fast but this is my first tractor so really nothing to compare to, all I know is it was much faster than low.

I can't think of a thing I did differently. Could the differential lock been on the whole time and went off? I noticed when I went through a depression the cutter hung a second with one front wheel not contacting the ground and it wouldn't spin (since I have had it all tires would turn and I've never depressed the diff. lock lever). Thats my only thought. Whatcha think? All I know is I was able to finish must quicker than I thought. :)

Have you tried to engage the diff lock to test it? Sounds like it was a good thing that happened anyways ...

Enjoy!!!

I was thinking 4WD maybe. You mentioned the front wheels having power to them previously...diff lock doesn't apply power to the front wheels, just locks the rear axle so both rear wheels have power. I know my 4WD servo's stuck with the 4WD engaged. Maybe yours was and popped loose?

Wonder if the brakes could have been dragging a bit?

good thought...especially since when he had backed up was all it took to make the difference

an obvious suggestion is...if it returns to the "slower" state...run it just a bit and see if the brakes are getting hot...

I took it in and out of four wheel drive many times, have to wear I was at.

Also had one rear wheel not turn so thinking the diff. lock did disengage. (Could one front wheel not turn if the other one was stuck and unable to turn?) Could the diff. lock disengaged cause the change in speed?

The brake thought I guess could be possible. I did undo the lever than combines them and one wanted to leak down a tad and I'd reach down and pull it up with my hand (about an inch) but didn't notice any difference at the time. I guess doing that a two times could have done something.

Oh well, it ran well, four wheel drive kept working so I'll take it.

Check out the HST and brake linkages, if it has HST. Also look at the cruise control linkages.:D

It is HST, but what am I looking for in the brake and cruise control linkages? Sorry for an obvious silly question.:confused2:

Sometimes its the easy things, you were brush hogging, could be stick etc. wedge or build up,I'd start at the rear end slowly looking feeling cleaning as I went.
