I have a Woods finish mower, but I need a bush/brush mower for some of the really tall stuff. What do I need to get for a TZ25DA? I am a girl so please assume that I have limited mechanical knowledge.;) I am hoping to find a used one in my area (DFW/N TX) or if new, inexpensive one. I know I need one that my tractor HP can handle, but then I have read importance of PTO hook up??

TIA

I did find specs. for mower for TZ25DA, but now I have question regarding driveline categories.

Here are specs:

Hitch category: 1
Driveline category: 2
Cutting width: 48
Drive requiremt: 540RPM PTO

I found one mower with same specs. with the exception of driveline category....it has a driveline category 3. What is the difference? Is it significant?

My head is spinning....(uh, yeah, duh...I'm a girl lol :confused2: )

Well, I have a BX25. I use a 42inch landpride brushcutter. It was not cheap, and I have cut a lot of heavy brush with it. I wanted a 48inch cutter, but the dealer talked me out of the bigger cutter. He was right I believe. A 42 inch is not too heavy for your size tractor. I had a hard time choosing between the Kubota and the New Holland. If you have a FEL, the TZ25 with the cutter on it will feel more balanced. Check out your local TSC. They're cutters a less costly.

I bought a TZ25DA in 2005 and used a 42 inch Bush Hog Squealer rotary cutter with good results. Traded this combo in 2007 for a TC34DA and 60 inch Squealer. Nothing wrong with the TZ25, just needed more weight and horsepower. The TZ25 and 42 inch Squealer seemed to be a good match for each other.
If you decide on a rear brush cutter and do not have front end loader you might want to consider some suitcase weights up front. This will give give you more stability on hillsides.

Thank you for sharing. I do have a front end loader *relieved*...never even thought about the wt. issue. Don't have any hills, but still. I have found a couple of deals on craigslist, but am awaiting specs.

Thanks for the info. I am hoping to be able to use a 48" and according to NH, I should be able to as long as I stay within a certain weight. I am currently waiting to hear back from a couple of guys with specifications on their used 4 footers. I have looked at TSC and may end up going that route, but hoping to find a used one for less. I do have a FEL....good to know that was something I hadn't even considered.

If your going to be cutting on fairly flat land with out too many obsticles, you should be fine with a 48inch cutter.

Thanks! My fields are flat improved coastal that are routinely mowed, fertilized and sprayed w/weed killer. I just purchased a 48" that I found on craigslist. Guy is bringing it today. He came by yesterday and looked at tractor and made sure that it would work. (nice guy :)) Hope he will show me how to unhook finish mower and hook up brush cutter. I have never done this so anxious to learn.
