I have JD 1050 in good running condition. 4WD and a FEL. The unit has 3800 hours but mostly cleaning out the barn and garden work, nothing very heavy.
I think somewhere in the $7K - $8K range. Any recomendations? The machine is always been sheltered.

A few pictures would help, also tire condition and other add ons.

Doesn't sound too bad. Shedded and light work. That's good. Price seems reasonable.

Initial thoughts... how are the rims? When someone says "cleaning out the barn" I start to wonder about rust-corrosion.

Also, the number of hours is high enough that I'd have some concerns about the 2-stage clutch. Have you ever replaced it? Does the pto work properly?

A fair number of posts here on TBN regarding stuck clutches and pto clutch problems on both the 50 and 70 series of JD's.

Loader pins. OK? Or a fair bit of slop? I was gonna replace the loader pins on my JD 970 and it only had 650 hours. But nearly every hour was a loader hour, too.

I was nervous when my 455 hit the 2,000 hour mark. I know diesels last a long time. I also know when they need repair a Yanmar has very costly parts. Between the clutch, drive axles, engine hours, I would be pricing a new model or look for a demo. I like old cars but I have a thing for new replacement tractors. Good luck with your future sale.

i just paid 7k for a 950 w/ 4wd and fel (only 850 hours though). i don't think mine ever saw a shed until i bought it either.

how much will a new clutch cost on these tractors? I always hear they are expensive and they have to split the tractor, anyone have an idea of how much?

also, how long should a clutch last?

Thanks for the input. The cluch was replaced at 3300 hours. The rims are in good shape and the bucket is very tight. I kept it lubed all the time. The tires are 85%. I replaced them and stay off the pavement.

You should be asking for the top-end of the price range...

Best of luck.

Value is what is pertinent and not the price. That is always an individual assessment. I once saw a 1050 that had 13000 hrs on it and it was all mowing a large fair ground. For your use, its condition and its proven longevity, you can figure if its a good price or not.
