new holland 848 round baler

Would like comments or thoughts on 848 new holland round baler since they are chain type not belts as i only have 15 acres to put up, thanks

That baler is perfect for your intended usage. It is also user friendly. Like all chain rollers, it will leave a soft core. This will help the roll breath while it is curing out after baling hay that may be a little damp. If the price is right you cant go wrong. Ken Sweet

yea i agree that syle baler would be perfect for the intended use and they really are a pretty decent baler

May I ask what you mean by a soft core? When I think of soft core I think of the New Idea style balers with the fixed chambers.

The New Holland chain rollers were designed to have a 12 to 18 inch soft center to promote hay drying in the bale. These rollers are pretty much dummy proof. I know because I ran one for about 15 years. Ken Sweet
