A couple of weeks ago I went to TSC to buy a Carry All...they had two in stock that had identical stock numbers and price tags but they were very different in how they were built...

The one that I did not choose can be seen here:
http://www.tractorsupply.com/wcssto...ontAssetStore/images/products/600/2128210.jpg

The one that I did choose is like the one in their catalog (hard copy) it is made with square tubing and has has 3/8" flanges for the lift arm pins (rather than holes punched in the main frames)...

My point is...while examining the two in the TSC yard I noticed that the back ends of the main angle iron members were not welded...I pointed this out to two employees....I went back to the store this week and the same item is still in the yard.. notice in the above (linked) picture it clearly shows the joint being welded...the image below is one I took this week:

Don't you expect this from the box stores? Kinda par for the course! Ken Sweet

In general the saying you get what you pay for holds true, not always but generally.I bought a mid buster made down south some where that had very poor welds.I got it at a low enough price that I didn,t mind grinding there welds off and redoing it,but I like to play and it was fun for me:)Dave

Well personally I think TSC has made a big mistake. From what I can find the Country Line implements are made by several different companies. They all seem to follow the King Kutter designs. In some areas King Kutter is still the primary supplier but not everywhere. I have always had good luck with King Kutter for my residential use so I would buy again. For awhile TSC marketed a brand, in some areas, called Dark Horse. It was also a KK look alike and had a cheap price and horrible reviews. I just can't be sure what I am buying from TSC anymore.

I have to agree with Ken Sweet on this one.

You want Quality, and they want cheaper for them to buy so they get a bigger profit margin.

I am pretty sure that the one in the picture didn't come from King Kutter. I was recently at their place in Winfield, and got to walk the production line. Any person on the line can pull a piece with defects and is rewarded to do so is what I was told (and saw with my own eyes).

Here are the pictures of the ones that we received in our first shipment from King Kutter.

If you still want to buy King Kutter, but want to make sure it really is King Kutter, we have a massive free shipping zone.

I just bought one at my local TSC that has square tubing at the top but has punched holes in the angle on the sides. It was $129, they had 3 all the same and is the best thing I have ever bought for my BX.

I made a log box that I use as an outfeed table for my splitter and load the box as I split.

I was glad that TSC finally put a store in near me last year. After two trips through the store i decided that most of the implements were junk. I only have one of their implements the subsoiler and upon close inspection I will have to beef it up prior to its use.

The rest of the stuff seems to be dollar store variety.

Are you implying that "the South" has cornered the market on lousy tools?...
...Don't even get me started about the crap (lousy tools) that comes out of the northern states...in a lot of cases I would rather have chinese made tools...

quality control (basic topic of thread) is what killed the American car manufacturers...the unions sapped the life out of the companies and the employees (for the most part) became complacent with $75/hr wages and bountiful benefits...it was only a matter of time...

...And the guy from bp wants us to believe "they care about the little people"

Perfect example of your thread on Made in America and the price. That KingKutter Carry All is $100 more than a TSC Carry All.

Why spend $100 more on such a simple attachment.?? I won't.

...Here are the pictures of the ones that we received in our first shipment from King Kutter....

I mis-spoke when I said the one I bought was made with "square tubes"...it is made from all 1/4 angle except for the flanges (lift arms and top-link) which are 5/16" or 3/8"....

It is identical to the one made by King Kutter....and as I mentioned in the OP...it is the same as the one pictured in the TSC catalog that states a 1000# load capacity......

I paid $119.00

not saying anything bad about the south.Living in n.Mn. everthing is south for me.I in no way was I running down the south,I go there in the winter. Geez, too many people assume the worst.Last I knew all the states north, south, east and west were the united states.just curious, who makes lousy tools?

Ken... what's funny is that product in the picture is a Tarter Gate piece and not a King Kutter piece.

The only Tarter Mfg. equipment we sell is Livestock handling, Roto tillers, Aerators and phasing out the Tarter Rotary cutters in favor of Hawkline brand (The old IMC/International "Taylor") that has served us well over the last 25 years. We have 20 wholesale companies we deal with and "pick and choose" as needed. Ken Sweet

go into 'harbor freight' and take your pick...

personally, I think Kobalt tools (sold by Lowes) are horribly lousy (quality) tools...not exactly sure where they are made but they claim they're all made in the USA...they are some of the crappiest tools I have ever used...

bought my Carry all from TSC in 2002. The Carry All and a Gate cost $108, I didn't break out the costs in my records. Mine was all welded. I have a wood bottom and front I bold on, but currently they are off and I am using a pallet.

I not sure how to do the quotes.

That one Ted has it different than mine. Is it a Quick attach Ted? Mine I will have to modify to make it work.

Pick and choose method is a very good method.

slash pine,I believe we,ve gotten off on the wrong foot.I never and will never say anything bad about any area of our country,I love it all.I also will never say anything bad about the folks on this web site,I enjoy talking to you guys too much to do that.Harbor frieght tools are for the most part made in China. If you,ve seen any of my past posts you,ll see I,m very pro America and hate the fact that so much crap is China made.My bid buster happened to be made down south some where, and had it been made in Minnesota I,d have been just as disappointed in the weld quality and would have noted that too.If you honestly feel I,v said any thing out of line,I,m sorry.Didn,t mean to:eek:Dave

I never studied the picture[weld verses not a weld] but will say a fillit weld on one side[if its a good weld] will hold as much as the metal will hold[like said never looked at picture] just saying sometimes you don't need a all around weld, bridges are made to some extent like this, you just got to beat the steel when you're welding,7018 rod has 70,000 per sq,,so.
