I am thinking serious about buying the bobcat grader attachment for my toolcat...Has anyone done this already? Kind of a gamble as I'm not sure how it will handle though the idea of it really intrigues me....Any advice appreciated.

My neighbor has the Quick-Attach version (may be the same as the BC) and it looks pretty cool. Due to the relatively light weight of the TC, I'm thinking some ballasting would be helpful...but that's just a guess on my part as I've not tried it yet on my TC. The Quick-Attach version has a 6-way blade IIRC (same as BC?) which means you should ensure electrical compatibility (7-pin vs. 14-pin) between your machine and the attachment regardless of brand.

You might consider the Quick-Attach version of this type of attachment. My neighbor's is very sturdy. If you are interested in this route, do NOT use the prices in Q-A's catalog...use the "Buy It Now" price listed on their eBay store...which in the past have been cheaper. Here's a link: 78" 6 way Dozer Versa Blade Plow Skid Steer Attachment - eBay (item 160195773107 end time Jun-22-10 06:44:46 PDT)

Note that this URL points to just the blade. If you scroll down on this webpage you'll see the gingerbread you can stick on this attachment.

Buy it. Then let me know how it works. Don't know how well they work and don't see many around. They are pricey. I would guess for loose material they would work great. I have my doubts how well it would work for real digging. I would guess the TC has more front end weight compared to most skid steers. More weight is probably not need. You will either raise the front of the grader, or not have enough traction or power.

I tried a dozer blade on wheeled skid steer once. Difficult to control depth and tend to get high and low spots. I hear dozer blades work better on tracked machines. Better traction and less up and downs.

I have one of these. http://www.landoll.com/Icon/PDF/116782 1632 lit.pdf
Pull it with 245 hp MFWD, 20,000 lb tractor. Drop the blade too much and the tractor stops and spins. Even this thing can have some trouble cutting and moving material with blade set on an angle. I have hooked it to my 5610 TC to move it. Blade dwarfs the TC. It weighs over 5000 lbs and has an additional 2500 lbs of cement in the weight box.

Thats a nice blade. I have a 10ft box I pull with a JD4320 and it is great. I've been wondering about a pull behind box for the Tcat, I wonder if it would handle a 8 footer.

I don't think it will work like a true grader. On a grader the frame and front and back wheels are fixed, and the blade travels straight up and down. On this setup the control of the blade is done by changing the height of the loader arm. This will change the plane that the blade is in and affect blade level if you have it angled. The other thing working against you is the suspension travel. As you roll weight forward onto the front castors, you unload the front suspension, making it not steer, or if in 4 wheel steer it will steer the wrong way. If the toolcat had auto leveling bucket that would help a bunch.

The TC won't be able to handle an 8'. Way too much weight. I used a 7' box blade once, and the TC could not pull it full of dirt. It can handle my 5' box blade.
