Arranging for shipment from Texas to Virginia?

So, if I decide to move to Montana from Southern California, I might as well sell all of my equipment before I move because no one is going to work on any of my stuff because I didn't purchase it from them? Wow, that would really add too the costs of moving. I may be wrong, but for some reason it sure should not work that way, maybe it does, I don't know. :confused3:

Matt, I think that you should do some more looking around before you purchase and think that you are saving $3200. You really need to get a shipping quote ahead of time. Freight is going to kill a big part of that $3200 savings. So how much will you have really saved?

Matt, after you get that shipping quote, maybe go back to your local dealer and ask him to maybe split the difference with you. In the end if your local guy is only $1000- $1500 more after you have to pay for shipping, I would think that you would be better off buying local.

I'm all for buying long distance if the circumstances dictate that is the best thing to do, but if it is at all reasonable, purchase locally. I don't know if saving 10% is worth all the headaches that go along with a long distance purchase. :confused2:

Hello
Kubotas rules state that any Kubota dealer will do warranty work but that they will probably take care of the tractors they sell first.
It all depends on the dealer how you will be treated if you have a problem.
Good luck either way.

If I was treated that way from a dealer I'd be contacting their headquarters and then I'd be making complaints to BBB or other consumer services. Is that the way auto manufactures work? I think not. I know that my Deere dealer doesn't discriminate against people who bought their tractors elsewhere. After all buying the tractor is the least expensive part of the deal. Service will usually pay the dealers bills faster than a few sales a year. Of course I'm talking more about the larger machines than the smaller ones. Anyway it might be advantages to check with your local dealer before purchasing. If he knows that you are looking elsewhere he might be more inclined to price match his products.

Good luck

Wow McGeesEquip I guess this is how you run your dealership.....So sad, I still scratch my head to dealers that won't do warranty work on items they didn't sell....
It's your chance to get the customer in you store and make some money!
The way the market has pushed our margins down on the sales of new equipment I can't see why anyone would not want to have income! That is unless your shop is not profitable or may your parts counter is not interested in selling parts either!

Wishful thinking, but when you wake up to real world and see that it really does not work that way then like It was stated, that's when the hassle starts. Besides, maybe that dealer will use it as his boat anchor.

I think dealers that think/behave like this should be revealed to everyone. Maybe they will be out of business before long.

Just think if you had to take your Ford or Chevy to the dealer you purchased it from? What if you move?

This thinking is just insane...

You might want to ask for a serial number of the tractor you are buying and see if perhaps it is a year or two old but still "new". Or if maybe it was a demo. Generally there is not that big of a spread on pricing unless a dealer is getting some sort of discount due to aging or the like. Is part of the $3200 savings sales tax that you are not paying due to an out of state deal? I'm just trying to make sure we are seeing the entire picture.

And all dealers can figure out a way to ship a tractor, so you might ask them for a little help.

Gentlemen,
I found a reasonable Kubota Dealer in Normangee, Texas however they have no provision for shipping the tractor. The total savings over the local dealer is in excess of $3200. Granted ya gotta make your arrangements to get it... :)

Does anyone know of a service that allows for partial loads coming east? I don't mind picking the tractor up anywhere in VA, however, I'd prefer not to go too much further. Thank you ahead of time...

Tractor will be a 6040 or 7040 Shuttle with FEL. Your input is appreciated.

Regards, Matt Garrett.

Matt,

Sounds like you are ready to make a large investment in equipment that you want to bring you good service.

Before I went and made a long distance purchase of that size I would have someone in mind that would be willing to do any possible warranty work on the unit. I would not just up and make that kind of decision before knowing for a fact where you could get the warranty work done.

Ask your dealers point blank if you made a out of state purchase would they still do the warranty work. It's that easy.

Making a purchase of that size should be rewarding, not a hassle. Knowing that you would have to be forced making calls the "BBB" or "Kubota" for getting your warranty work done will not be rewarding.

I have had very good luck getting warranty work done at dealers where I did not buy a machine; lots of people on the Kubota forum buy their tractors from Barlows in Kentucky and no one has reported problems. He delivers all over the country.
