Anyone got one? I just bought one used today for $500. It came with a NEW 24" auger bit that worked fantastic digging post holes and a 12" bit that needs a new cutting edge.

He said it was from Central Tractor, but the labels are too faded to tell. It's red and looks pretty big. Said it was ~18 years old. I hope it can hold 62 PTO HP.

I blew through a shear pin and tried reg soft bolts. Blew through them and tried grade 5 bolts. Blew through 2 of them. 3rd one is holding OK.

What do I do about shear pins? Any idea if central Tractor is decent stuff?

Builder, just curious, have you checked the gear ratio? I think that it should be in the 4s to be turning a 24" auger. My Land Pride has grade 5 shear pin and auger bolts, haven't had any problems, but then I don't come across roots, rocks and such.

I'll get some pics up hopefully tomorrow. It is painted "international" red, so maybe it is an International??? made of tube steel. Motor head isn't overly huge, but fairly big. Kind of concerned I might be putting too much HP through it, but so far, so good.

I pampered it when I used it Tuesday and still blew through a few shear bolts.

Builder, greetings again
I know your going to post your pic's,but in meantime here are pic's of mine.INT'NL(not same as tractor builders)World Agritech Corp.
Note hole(loop) type hook up for top center link.Don't know gear ratio,as Mtn View Ranch stated 4 to 1 or possible 3.18 to 1.:confused2:,but mine did come with#5 shear bolt.My auger is 12",check out bottom of it if pic's let you see it has welded triangle pieces on it.

My mounting frame looks almost identical, but my gear box doesn't have the sheetmetal guard with the two holes in it mounted underneath the gearbox.

I'll try to get pics. Just too busy to believe right now. :confused2:

Central Tractor went out of business years ago. They never made any of their own stuff, they were just retailers like Tractor Supply and Rural King. Given the age, yours could possibly be made by Caroni. Regardless, I don't believe any of the farm store PHDs use anything bigger than a 40hp gear box. So I'm pretty sure the 12" auger is the biggest that should be safely used with it

Mine has a 75hp gear box, if you look at it, it is substantially bigger than most. The auger is 24" to give some perspective.

You might want to check to see if the hub for the auger has a egged out hole from previous shears!!!!!

That is the biggest problem with shear pins!

That's the PHD I want, but our present recession will not allow me to buy. Dealer wants like 2 grand for PD35.
