Some people are Pigs

We have about 700' of frontage on a major two lane highway. Cleaning up after the pigs who dump the trash out of the window of the car as they go by really gripes me.
Yesterday we took a day trip to a litttle town on Lake Erie. While there we stopped at a little antique shop. When we arrived we were the only ones there (no other cars in the private parking lot). When we left (about 15 minutes later) there was one other car parked next to ours. Look down next to my door and see wadded up paper towels and other wrappers laying on the ground. They definitely were not there when we arrived.
I took them, wadded them together and stuffed them in the door handle of the car they came from.

Many years ago when I was teaching, I was driving to an evening function at the school, and I happened to be behind a "problem" student being driven by his mother. They did not know I was behind them. The drivers window goes down, and a McDonald's bag comes flying out. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I think the best thing the Michigan legislature ever did was the 1972 bottle return law - a 5 or 10 cent deposit on soft drink and beer bottles. Really cleaned up the enviornment. I wish they would extend this idea to all consumer packaging. The retail industry would hate it, so it will never happen now.

We have that on just about any drink container other than regular unflavored milk. People pick up the littered containers for the deposit money. People drinking while driving get rid of their containers out the window to avoid compounding thier problems if they are pulled over. I think a beer can in plain view, or providing an aroma, is one probable cause for sobriety testing.

Most of the litter along our road frontage comes from fast food restaurants. What can be said other than 'people really are pigs'.

Is throwing out boiled peanut shells while driving or riding down the road littering?

you know 1 or two here and there over 70miles???

Of course it is littering. Do 99% of the peolple care, no. They can't see them and they biodegrade quickly.

Good one. You just know if the Sheriff were looking for a reason to stop YOU, the peanut shells would be all he needs. Should have blinked your lights and made a citizen's arrest.

This is the kinda thing that a picture sent to the local news paper is truly worth a thousands words!!!!!

I bet $50 if the cart is in a wal-mart parking lot...at least one of the cart's wheels will wobble like heck and make a racket...
