Hey.. there are jobs that you can do and jobs that you can't do, and then there are jobs you can do, and also jobs that you pay someone else to do. And the smart tractor owner knows which is which with no fault either way.

I'm sure your dealer.. or any reputable hyd repair shop will have that thing done in a jiffy.

I don't repack hyd cys.. when they leak.. i take them to a shop who does them all day long...

One day I'm gonna learn to do that with tires and quit fighting them with irons and spoons and whatnot... :)

as someone once said.. any'problem' that can be solved by writing a check is not a problem.. it's an 'expense'.

good luck

post back and let us know how you come out.

Thank's for that saying - I will definitely use it in the future.

True enough:) i know when to call it quits but at the same time never want to pass out an opportunity to learn something new or buy a new tool.

I'll be the first to admit that turning wrenches is not my strong suit. I could possibly muddle my way through it, but what the heck, I work six days most weeks and either shoot archery tournaments or fish when i get a chance on Saturdays. I will contribute to my local New Holland dealer's bottom line this time.
On a side note, I have two dealers within 25 miles of me, both reputable, one's labor is $65 per hour. The other's is $95 per hour. Amazing!

Actually, no. Their service manager told me they were 2-3 weeks out and I could bring it and put it in line. The other guy told me to bring it Tuesday and they would get right on it. The expensive guy is in one of the heavier agriculture counties in upstate SC and the cheaper guy is in a county where Ag is on the way out, nothing but lake houses and strip malls.

I just can not see them charge more than 3 hrs labor max for overhauling the pump. Overhaul kit plus shaft seal should not be more than $70. I guess under $350 repair bill + whatever it costs to haul it to and from.

You nailed it. The service manager told me the job was allotted 3 hrs but could take less. Price on the kit is actually $80.

You have an honest service manager. I'm not the speediest person and like to research the heck out of everything, and cross all T's and dot all I's. I have done mine under 1-1/2 hr, but if I do the same particular one next time then I can do it under 1 hr due to better learning curve. I hope they charge you no more than 2 hrs.
