BX24 BH - BT601 - bent spool valve

Hi all,

I have a Kubota BX24 w/ a BT601 BH. I managed to get a small rock in behind the boom and when I swung it all the way to the left the rock bent the outer spool valve (?). I noticed the problem when I was unable to swing the boom to the right and by the puddle of hydraulic fluid forming under the BH.

I've attached pictures of the area for reference (this is under the foot-plates on the BH): http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=171961&stc=1&d=1279676895

In this picture you can see that the tallest one on the end is bent, you can see the gap which has formed (highlighted in the box). This almost looks like it is just an casing or something:

Does anyone know what that thing is and/or is called? Can I just replace that thing, or is it going to be a new spool? I'm not really sure what I'm looking at, and I haven't dug into it. Also, anyone have a pointer to an exploded view of the BT601? I haven't been able to find one on the web.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

don

It looks like the pressure relief valve. If that's what it is, they thread into the valve body. Might want to wait for a more expert opinion.

Man that really sucks. When I get home I will check my WSM to see if there is anything in there.

Yeah, it's up there with the 1/4" stick taking out my $3 plastic HST cooling fan...which then takes 8 hours to fix...

FWIW - I sent the pictures to my local tractor place (45 minutes away), and they confirm that the item in question is a pressure relief valve as BeezFun suggests. It easily unscrews and should be simple to fix.

Just gotta fork over the $225 for a new one...

Thanks for the help,

don

Is the 225 for the parts or them doing it? As you said, looks simple to change. Then again Kubota is not the lowest on part prices...gulp

That is just for the part. I was a bit shocked at the price myself. Sadly, it will probably cost me even more because my wife will be picking up the part, and the tractor place is right next to the outlet mall!

It just screws in, as the old one just screwed out. Fortunately it wasn't bent so far that it couldn't be unscrewed, although it was hitting the spool body when I turned it.

I'll be more careful next time when digging so close to the BH!
