Possum ATTACK!

What the heck is that 'possom wearing? Is that a bullet proof vest???

I've handled dozens and dozens of the things and they generally don't go out of their way to bite, especially younger ones. This particular one did his best to bit the living crap outta me. Rather than do what I wanted, since the wife and kids were watching, I put on a pair of welding gloves and "re-located" them away from the house.

We had our go-around with the local wildlife at the house, or actually nesting under the house.

This is true, but you should have heard momma when she got back that night! She sounded like she was tearing the foundation out from under the house. We stayed inside that evening/night.

After reading all of this for my Saturday morning entertainment, I realize my possom killing secret needs to be revealed.

As much as we like shooting our guns some may not take this lightly but put them away when it comes possom killing time. You see, to kill a possom all that's needed is a strong stick. The stick is placed across the neck with a #12 size boot on each side. While standing on the stick the tail is pulled until you feel the neck pop. Works every time without putting a hole in the pelt and doesn't disturb the neighbors, sleeping wife or kids.

In my later years I've come to appreciate wildlife more and try not killing anything if possible.

By the way. The foul odor when playing possom is a naturally occuring defense scent mechanism they produce on demand. All they are missing at that time is the maggots.
