How many times have I said THAT ? This time it's somebody else's snowmobile trailer I'm fixing; after replacing the entire axle last year you'd think he'd check the wheel bearings once in a while. Guess I should have checked them myself; except he said they were OK. I just had my own trailer frame loaded onto his so I could take it to get it welded, when I noticed the wheel didn't look right. I'm lucky it didn't fall off on the way home.

Oh well, I always say "Don't borrow anything you can't replace;don't lend anything unless you don't need it back."

Funny thing, anytime he borrowed my winch I delivered it; whe he borrowed my wood splitter and spun the pump on his PTO, I replaced the hoses and fittings.

So instead of accomplishing anything today I'm off to the parts store 45 miles away.

I know how you can fix this problem. Go buy yourself a snowmobile trailer, that way you can be sure that you wil never need one again:D

What were you doing with a snowmobile trailer in the middle of the summer anyhow?

One time I was running out of time to get the hay baled..it was laying in the field and rain was coming so while I was baling with my tractor my neighbor showed up with his tractor and baler and I was glad to see him...after awhile he needed some diesel so I told him to fill up at the barn where I have a 55 gallon drum and pump...He did and after about an hour his tractor came to a stop...We could not get it started so he called the local tractor dealer who sent a service truck out and the neighbor said it must have been debris in my fuel barrel and I told him that was not possible since it is filtered ..The serviceman pulled all kind of debris out of his fuel lines and told him it had been in there for some time...I still paid the service call but that was the last time I ever let him help or bring his equipment over...Lesson learned..life is not fair nor are many people.:)

I was headed for his garage with an old trailer frame to do some torchwork (with his torched, and the tanks I had filled)

I know, you're absolutely right; but before I buy the trailer I want I need to get the right truck to pull it. :p

I believe he answered your questions already. You must have scanned and missed it.

I was hoping that comment came across as intended. I've been having trouble with that lately:)
I recently borrowed a light equipment trailer from a neighbor to ferry a lawn tractor back and forth from one property to another. Fortunately I haven't managed to break anything on it yet.
The neighbor made sure he would get it back in a timely fashion too, the tags run out in a week:laughing:

The first time I need an item I will borrow it if I can and usually return it in better shape than when I got it.

The second time I need that same item I usually rent one.

The third time I buy it.

Once I got over my frustration of all the wasted time I admitted to myself that I should have checked it out before taking it; especially since he also replaced his boat trailer axle last year.

My thinking is just about the same. Only difference is that before I borrow something, I try to decide if it's something I'll need again. If so, I'll buy it.
