I think he got a bad coil from the dealer. Stranger things have happened. He'll check the next one with an ohmeter before installing it. He has read every post about this problem and knows that you don't need to have the tractor running to test it out. A 12 volt battery will not harm the magnet. From what he has said, I'm pretty darn confident in his troubleshooting skill level.

BTW: There have been several failures of this part in the past and we've had lots of them posted here on TBN.

Picked the new magnet up friday. It checked out good (11 ohms). Cruise works great. Thanks for all the help.
