Hi guys,

Just picked up a new Markham 72" HD grapple for my M59. So far so good. However I now notice a sharp "slap/clunk" noise whenever I open or close the grapple to the end of it's travel...this does not occur anywhere in the mid range, only at the ends of travel...when a load is placed on the grapple. I can see the hydaulic lines pulse when the noise occurs. No other noises related to hydraulics are present..only the grapple, which is actuated electronically from the M59 thumb controls.

Is this normal? I have no reference point.

Thanks.

Mark

Did you grease the pivots on the grapple?

Try unpinning the cylinder from the grapple, then move the top jaw through it's range manually and see if it's binding somewhere in it's travel, I suspect something is just a little out of alignment and not a big deal.

Kenny,

Shame on me I got too exited with the new toy to check how well it was greased. I will see how that works.

IronHorse,

That could be it...is that a normal occurance?

Only if you are a little slow at getting your finger off the button .

Iron,

The noise is more pronounced if I stay on the button longer, however it's still them if I clamp down on an object and release...

That's what I would say it was then . After the initial clack , if you can still hear a buzzing/squawking sound while getting a good grip on something , it is just the relieve valve , nothing to worry about .

Cool. I was worried I had air in the lines or damaged the pump. The noise only occurs after I let go of the button, not during the clamping.
