So I did my 50 hours...actually it was at 52 hours :D. The engine oil is a little dark but the hydraulic fluid is still look as new. I think I can go another 100 hours on the hydraulic fluids :D. Anyway this is what I got from the magnet... Bad, not bad, what do you guys think...

I don't know if that is good or bad but I just done my 200hr severice last weekend and my magnet looked pretty clean compared to yours.

My oil always looks dark but like you mentioned, the hydraulic fluid looks like it did when I put it in. I still have not figured out how to change the hydraulic fluid without making a huge mess on the floor. That stuff just fly's out of there!

The oil in a diesel engine will look black almost right away after you change it...normal.

The magnet looks normal to me also for the first 50hr...that's why we do it:thumbsup:

This is my first deisel, so I do not have a whole lot of experience (with only 106 hours on the Bobcat) and I have read multiple times on TBN how the oil turns black almost as soon as you start it after first changing it, so after my 50 hour change I have kept an close eye on color.
Yesterday when I checked it, it only looks slighty tinted, nothing like what people seem to indicate on here, and it now has 58 hours on this oil change.
It almost looks like 1000 mile gasoline oil.

I do use ultra low sulfer fuel and also treat it with Opti-Lube, if that would make any sort of difference.

:confused2::confused:

Hold the phone.......whats this magnet deal you guys are talking about. I'm about to service mine and was wondering if I'm missing something, ie. a magnet check???

On the drainplug for the hydraulic fluid there is a magnet that collects any metal shavings, just clean it off real good when you do your service. Mine is located at the bottom of the mid pto but if you don't have the mid pto it will be located in that same area.

I changed my hydro oil and filter at probably less than 30 hours,just like to let a new thing run a few hours than do it first time,get that concern out of my concern,,now it'll be a while before I change it the second time.Mines a gear,if it was hydro,would be a little more concerned with it as far as hydro oil goes.

These things set for a year or longer before they sell them,out in the weather,and your never really for sure what was put in them to begin with.
